The NFLPA continues its crusade to discredit any and all claims that the NFL have brought against the New Orleans Saints. And with the four suspended players awaiting the outcome of their appeals, the NFLPA took its crusade to another level. Back on June 11, the NFLPA sent a letter to Roger Goodell requesting that Saints coach Sean Payton, general manager Mickey Loomis, assistant head coach Joe Vitt, and former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams all be present to testify during the players appeal hearing. But according to a subsequent letter by the NFLPA to Goodell, none of them want to testify in fear of retribution from the league. As lawyers for the four suspended New Orleans Saints players await evidence from the NFL on Friday that will — at the least — outline the league’s position heading into Monday’s appeals hearings; the NFL Players Association sent a letter to the league Thursday claiming current, former or suspended Saints employees fear “retribution” from the NFL if t...

New Orleans Saints really need QB Drew Brees now

The New Orleans Saints and QB Drew Brees have been locked in contract talks this offseason, but the team needs him more than ever after Wednesday. New Orleans had been conducting team OTAs and mini-camps without the services of Drew Brees with QB Chase Daniel taking the majority of the snaps with the first team. Daniel fractured his thumb on Monday and will not be able to throw the...

Saints’ Chris Ivory is on the roster bubble

Chris Ivory is a talented running back with experience, 1090 yards and 6 touchdowns on 216 yards (5.0 YPC), but he’s buried on the depth chart in New Orleans’ deep running back group, behind Mark Ingram, Darren Sproles, and Pierre Thomas, and SportsNOLA’s Brian Allee-Walsh believes he’s on the roster bubble as the Saints may not want to carry 4 running backs in 2012. Allee...

Source: Saints, Brees deal going down to mid-July deadline

Even with the broken right thumb sustained this week by backup Chase Daniel, an injury that left New Orleans with only two functional quarterbacks -- Luke McCown and Sean Canfield -- for the final day of the club's minicamp, Saints' officials weren't exactly burning up the phone lines checking out potential training camp arms. And it was only partly because the Saints...

New Orleans Saints: QB Drew Brees Contract Extension Close but not Close Enough

The rumors continue to circle around Drew Brees and his new contract extension. Originally, ESPN reported the two sides were not anywhere close to agreeing to a deal, but then NBC Sports said the deal was closer than expected. Now, the negotiations are expected to go down to the wire according to NBC Sports. Honestly, that probably does not mean a whole lot to most fans out there...

Saints’ Nick Toon has a good chance to win #4 receiver job

The New Orleans Times-Picayune says that 4th round rookie Nick Toon has a good chance to win the #4 receiver job, a competition that the New Orleans Times-Picayune predicted would be a heated one earlier in the week. Toon reportedly impressed in minicamp, catching “nearly everything” thrown his way and “seems to be better than a 4th round pick” which is a sentiment I agreed...

Talks between Saints, Drew Brees could go down to the wire

According to Pro Football Talk, extension discussions between the Saints and Drew Brees could go down to the wire, with the wire being the July 16th deadline for franchise players to sign long term deals. If Brees does not sign his tender by that date, he’ll have to play out this season under the 1 year franchise tag and or not play at all, though I can’t see Brees choosing the...

Saints Nation: Zach Strief Making Most of Opportunity

Larry Holder of CBS directed me (and probably you) to THIS ARTICLE on Pro Football Focus praising Saints' right tackle Zach Strief as a "secret superstar". The article didn't come as a huge surprise really, considering the grades he got for the season from both me and Pro Football Focus. Despite being under the radar and blasted as terrible on a nationally televised...

Roman Harper hosts charity flag football game

Several former Alabama players and their current NFL teammates came together in Tuscaloosa Friday night to play in the First Annual Celebrity Flag Football Game, benefitting tornado victims. The event was put on by Harper's Hope 41 Foundation, an organization founded by former Bama star and current New Orleans Saints safety, Roman Harper.

Vilma's lawyer: Evidence does not link players to "bounty"

The lawyer for New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma said the evidence the NFL provided on Friday does not link the player to any "bounty" program. Vilma's lawyer, Peter Ginsberg, told NFL.com that most of the evidence includes a PowerPoint slide show of former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' directives and speeches to players. Ginsberg said...

Dear Mr. Goodell, Your Hypocrisy Is Showing Again

Dear Mr. Roger Goodell, Last season I brought to your attention that the NFL photo store was selling pictures of a concussed Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy sitting on the ground following the hit made by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison in the fourth quarter of the week 14 game. You do remember that play, don't you? It was the one that resulted in you suspending...

Saints Nation: NFL Presents "Evidence"

Read THIS ARTICLE for yourself, and you tell me if you think the NFL is acting in good faith. It's becoming increasingly obvious the NFL, and more specifically Roger Goodell, overreacted to this whole situation. Call me a homer, but something about this whole situation is smelling worse and worse by the second. What is most disturbing about this is that some of the shared ...

Report: Multiple groups looking to buy the Bills

Getty Images According to Ed Kilgore of NBC 2 in Buffalo, there are multiple groups ready and anxious to make a pitch to Bills owner Ralph Wilson when he’s ready to sell the team.  This is something that will ultimately have to happen since no one in the Wilson family wants the team once the 93-year old owner passes away. Right now neither Wilson or NFL commissioner Roger Goodell...
