The NFL's Oakland Raiders have teamed with Overstock.com to generate fan engagement during home games at Raiders' Overstock.com Coliseum (or "O.co", as Overstock has termed it) during the 2012-13 season. The company has created numerous themed football games to hopefully generate fan interest and ticket sales. Overstock signed a six-year deal in partnership with the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority in April 2011. That deal included the naming rights to the home of the Oakland Raiders and MLB's Oakland Athletics. This year's fan engagement projects include a home game feature dedicated to the Wounded Warrior Project -- a non-profit organization that honors and empowers Wounded Warriors. Each home game will feature two guests of honor from the project, who will be given on-field and scoreboard recognition. The participants will also receive two tickets to the game, courtesy of Overstock.
"We are delighted that Overstock.com is returning as a Raiders sponsor and we are honored to work with Overstock.com to support WWP," said Raiders Chief Executive Amy Trask.
Another promotion which will run for every home game -- dubbed the Overstock.com Kickoff Challenge -- allows a randomly selected fan to receive a $5,000 Overstock giftcard if the Raiders return the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
"Oakland Raiders fans are some of the most passionate in the NFL, and we like passionate people," said Overstock.com CEO,Patrick M. Byrne. "These promotions will reinforce Overstock.com's already strong presence among Oakland fans."
The Raiders, who are currently 0-2, host their second home game of the season this Sunday, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. (via Overstock.com Press Release)
