Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles has a strong chance at becoming the team's starter, and he knows it.
There's no lack of confidence on his part as the team is set to begin training camp with one of the more exciting QB battles in the league. New head coach Chip Kelly has no experience with either Foles or Michael Vick, so he assumingly holds a fresh, unbiased view of the competition.
"I have all the confidence in the world in my ability," Foles said, via Phillymag.com. "But I still respect the players around me and I know what they're capable of doing. But at the end of the day, I'm not here to be a backup. I'm here to be the guy. I don't think we play this game to sit on the bench. We play it to play, and I'm here to play."
He was also asked whether he feels he's in the lead as far as the competition goes. "No, I feel like we're still competing and there is no lead," he said. "There's never a lead."
