At least you can say Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson has confidence in his team.  Blind, incredibly naive, fantastical, nonsensical confidence... but confidence nonetheless.  Pederson was quoted in the Kansas City Star as saying new Chiefs QB Alex Smith is the best quarterback in the league. Not the best QB out of Utah, not the best one named Alex, not the best quarterback to be benched in favor of Colin Kaepernick... the best overall in the entire NFL. “Ultimately, every team has to have a quarterback,” Pederson said. “I think we have the best in the league.” “There are a lot of great ones,” Pederson said, “but over time, Alex has proven he can get it done. He’s a sharp guy, he brings a wealth of knowledge, he’s experienced, he’s a proven winner the last couple of years, and he needs a team to embrace him.” Kansas City is actually looking like a solid rebuilding project this year with Smith and Andy Reid, but these delusions of grandeur aren't goi

GM: Smith is the best QB in the NFL

Alex Smith was a good quarterback before Colin Kaepernick supplanted him in San Francisco last season, but to give the former Utah signal caller and most-sacked quarterback of 2011 any more credit than that would probably be overstating his qualifications. Don't tell that to Doug Pederson, though, because Pederson -- the offensive coordinator for Smith's new team, the Kansas...

Chiefs Camp Notes: Alex Smith Ready to Lead

St. Joseph, MO - No other offseason move has drawn the attention of the fan base than KC’s decision to acquire San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Alex Smith last March. If early returns are any indication, it appears the Chiefs have found themselves a steady player at a position they’ve struggled to develop for much of their franchise history.

Alex Smith Called ‘Best (Quarterback) in League’ By Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Doug Pederson

Coaches should always throw their full support behind their players, but Doug Pederson might have taken that to extremes. After watching Alex Smith in the first week of Chiefs training camp, Pederson, Kansas City’s offensive coordinator, likes what he sees. The Chiefs gave up a second-round draft pick and a conditional pick in next year’s draft, and Pederson feels the high price...

Chiefs OC on Alex Smith: He’s the best in the League

Now before I write this, I want to make it clear that I am 100 percent a Homer for my Utah Utes. (DAvid Eulitt/KC Star) With that said, former Ute Alex Smith has finally made a name for himself...

Kansas City Chiefs OC Doug Pederson: Alex Smith is best quarterback in league

The Kansas City Chiefs are excited to have Alex Smith running their offense after four brutal seasons with Matt Cassel under center. Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson uses the words, ‘best in the league’ when referring to Alex Smith

So apparently, there is unbridled optimism in Kansas City these days. Andy Reid is now the man in and charge and former 49ers cast off Alex Smith is the new starting quarterback. The first of those facts should have Chiefs fans optimistic; Andy Reid is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the league. But that second fact is a little iffy to be optimistic about. But don’t tell that...

Kansas City Chiefs 2013 Fantasy Football Projections

QB Alex Smith (Kansas City) Over his time in Philadelphia, Andy Reid made basically every quarterback he had look better than they were, allowing the Eagles to ship off Kevin Kolb, AJ Feeley, and, eventually, Donovan McNabb for 2nd round picks, even though none of the three ever did anything of note for their new team. He also revitalized the careers and Jeff Garcia and Michael Vick...
