The Steelers have to pay the piper at some point; they just are trying to make it tomorrow. From 2011-2013, general manager Kevin Colbert has restructured 13 contracts, pushing money to the next year, but that’s the old way of doing business with the previous salary cap. The new CBA has the salary cap with much tighter restrictions that make it harder to keep extending a credit line. Pittsburgh was an organization that made the right decisions, the hard ones, when to keep a player and when to let one go. Somewhere along the way the Steelers lost that philosophy, and have been paying for it since. As they continue to restructure more contracts than any other team in the NFL, their winning ways continue to dwindle. According to Mark Kaboly of Tribelive.com, there’s no turning back now.
