Fox Sports North:
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- He might have not carried the ball again in the preseason, but there will be no limitations on MVP running back Adrian Peterson when the season opens on Sunday with the Minnesota Vikings traveling to Detroit.
The Peterson story is quite different from last year, when Peterson was held out of the preseason while making his way back from reconstructive knee surgery and Minnesota put Peterson on a "pitch-count" during the early part of the season.
This year, Peterson is full-strength, coming off perhaps the most impressive season by a running back in NFL history and the Vikings are ready to ride their MVP.
"It's far different this time around," Minnesota coach Leslie Frazier said Friday. "Last year at this time, there were so many question marks and we had a pitch-count on him as far as the number of snaps and carries we were going to give him. No such thing this season. We've taken all that off the table and whatever we got to...
BEST OF MAXIM
Vikings RB Adrian Peterson went 78-yards for the TD against the Lions on his first touch of the 2013 NFL season. If this is any indication of his upcoming season the NFL all-time rushing record should be all his. Simply amazing.
The 2013 NFL season is underway. The league opened the season with the Broncos and Ravens Thursday night. The rest of the NFL action begins Sunday afternoon. The Minnesota Vikings look to start the season on a positive note against the Detroit Lions Sunday at 1 PM ET. The Vikings are looking to make the playoffs on consecutive seasons and hope to improve on a surprising turnaround...
Adrian Peterson started the 2013 season in MVP style.
The Minnesota star went 78 yards for a touchdown on the Vikings' first offensive play Sunday against the Detroit Lions, giving his team a 7-0 lead. Minnesota got the ball on its 22 after the Lions flubbed a field goal attempt. Peterson took a handoff, found an opening up the middle, cut to the right to avoid a tackler and...
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Another preseason has come and gone with very little activity for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
Last year, Peterson proved he didn't need the preseason en route to the MVP award and the second-highest, single-season rushing total in NFL history. He played two snaps in the third preseason game this time around and didn't carry the...
Minnestoa Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson, just took the first play from scrimmage 78 yards to the house for a TD! First. Play. Of. The. Season.
Check it out after the jump.

Adrian Peterson has one carry this season. Adrian Peterson has one touchdown.
AP broke off this 78-yard run on his first carry of the 2013 season, torching the Lions D to put the Vikings up by seven.

The Lions know where the Vikings’ offense starts – with Adrian Peterson, the player that causes restless nights for Detroit defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham.
When it comes to running backs if Adrian Peterson is playing folks are not going to care who the other guy is. People just want to see AP work is magic. So if the 'other' back wants to be noticed he is going to have to step his game up and do something bigger ad better than Peterson.
Like what Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush did on this play:
Adrian Peterson busted through defenses on his way to one of the best seasons in NFL history for a running back while guiding the Minnesota Vikings to a surprising playoff appearance in 2012.
Calvin Johnson's record-setting performance didn't have the same effect on the Detroit Lions, who finished below .500 for the 11th time in 12 years.
Their teams will look for each...
To the surprise of many, the Minnesota Vikings ended their 2012 campaign with a 10-6 record and a second place finish in the NFC North, earning themselves a playoff berth in the process. While their trip to the
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson boasts of rushing for 2,500 yards this season, making his personal goals well-known as he tries to run down Eric Dickerson's 29-year, single-season NFL record. The league's top running back makes such lofty predictions seem possible. The NFL's top wide receiver enters 2013 not making any grand statements and leaving his personal goals...
Minnesota Vikings (0-0) at Detroit Lions (0-0)
The Lions and Vikings are among the teams I picked to have big win changes, the Lions in a positive direction and the Vikings in a negative direction. Part of this has to do with the fact that the two teams did the opposite last season, with the Lions going from 10 wins to 4 and the Vikings going from 3 wins to 10. Ordinarily, we can...
Last year saw two phenomenal individual performances from offensive players. Calvin Johnson broke Jerry Rice’s NFL record for receiving yards in a season and Adrian Peterson came within 9 yards of Eric Dickerson’s elusive mark for rushing yards in a season. In part both of those records came about through the sheer necessity of them being the only weapon on their team but they...
Detroit welcomes Minnesota into Ford Field to open the 2013 NFL season Sunday. Minnesota comes in off a playoff berth and with the best offensive weapon in football, elite running back Adrian Peterson.
Both teams also come in with a huge weight on their shoulders.
Even with Calvin Johnson’s record breaking season in 2012 the team reverted back to their old ways which was even more...
We're finally here! It's the first Purple Jesus Diaries Game Thread of the 2013 regular season, and we're not here to mess around. The Vikings are apparently ready to go for the game as well, as early reports are indicating that for the first game of the season, the Vikings are ready to bust out the purple pants. No pretense this year, apparently, just full blown in-your...
