NFL Trade Rumors:
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears have made very little progress towards a long-term extension for DT Henry Melton.
Chicago placed their franchise tag on Melton back in February. Melton has since signed his franchise tender and is set to make $8.5 million for the 2013 season. The Bears have until July 15 to work out a long-term.
“We’re just kind of talking through some things,” Melton said. “Everyone is getting set up and getting the drafted guys done. Hopefully we can sit down and get something done.”
Last year, the Bears franchised RB Matt Forte and managed to get a long-term deal completed just before the deadline. In the NFL, deadlines spur action, so we’ll have to talks pick up after June.

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton signed his one-year franchise tender when the team presented him with it earlier this offseason. While he certainly won't be upset to collect a cool $8.45 million this season, Melton is holding out hope that an agreement on a long-term contract extension with the Bears will materialize, according to Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune...
Phil Emery may have gotten the best talent in the draft in the back end of the 2013 NFL Draft thanks to players like Marquess Wilson and Cornelius Washington from Georgia. Washington is an explosive pass rusher who shows a tremendous first step and speed to the outside. Washington has the length, the size and speed to be an effective base 4-3 defensive end in this scheme. He...
Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is in the elite category when it comes to skill sets. He is a dynamic runner and gets plenty of yards via the ground, but what separates Forte from most NFL backs is his ability to catch the football. Forte is the newest version of Marshall Faulk, the former Rams great who could dominate taking a handoff, or running routes. He is the perfect...
I had the pleasure of being able to interview Chicago Bears left tackle Jermon Bushrod prior to his upcoming charity gold tournament down in King Goerge, Virginia.
Jermon’s charity is called Visualize and Rize. You can find out more information at VisualizeandRize.org
The 3rd annual Visualize and Rize Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Friday June 14th at Cameron Hills Golf...
The Bears may not have enough confidence in Jay Cutler to extend his contract, which expires after this season. But Chicago’s new quarterback coach, Matt Cavanaugh, had some high praise for the seventh-year quarterback.
Of course, it’s worth noting that prior to Cavanaugh getting hired by the Bears, he spent four years tutoring Mark Sanchez as the Jets’ quarterback coach. So...
Jay Cutler has been called a lot of things. Some of them have been complimentary. Most of them are ones that I shouldn't include in this post (since I don't like to curse when I write). His new quarterbacks coach called him something in a recent interview that will likely come as quite a shock.
Borderline football brilliant.
Those were the words that Matt Cavanaugh...
Chicago Bears longsnapper and special teams captain Patrick Mannelly got left out today when Adam Schefter reported this fact. It’s tough to blame Schefter for forgetting about a longsnapper from the 1998 draft, but you have to feel bad for Mannelly. Longsnappers are easily the most under-appreciated players in the NFL. For those of you wondering, Mannelly was drafted out...
Drafting a player with high potential is a lot like owning a pet tiger. Let me explain.
Part 1: Coaching Staff
Part 2: Free Agency
If you buy a tiger, there are two distinct courses of action that follow. One option is successfully training your tiger to be obedient, therefore creating an undying bond of love and respect between you and the tiger that will last...
The Brian Urlacher rumors continue to make the rounds, and they continue to get shot down like a brittle clay pigeon. It’s not happening anytime soon, so pay no mind to unsubstantiated rumors.
We break down the current competition for the Chicago Bears’ fourth, fifth, sixth and possibly seventh wide receiver spots, a group that contains a number of young players with upside.
Chicago Bears undrafted free agents Zach Minter and Brent Russell are two of a handful of players fighting for the final defensive tackle position on the 2013 roster.
Chicago Bears GM Phil Emery has promoted Mark Sadowski to senior national scout.
Despite several aggressive and haunting beatings provided by Vikings fans to the contrary, those god damn rumors about former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher joining the Minnesota Vikings just won't die. Fans have tried breaking the rumors' nose, shattering several ribs, burning their house down, and threatening legal action, all to no avail. Somehow, these rumors...
