IntheOT:
The Chargers continue to do what the Chargers have always done under Norv Turner underachieve from a win loss record perspective. Especially in the past few years as it appears they are now on pace to miss the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive season. Watching this team play is excruciatingly painful due to them constantly outplaying their opponents with glorious chances to win most games they are involved with until the standard meltdowns we have become accustomed to seeing which end up being their demise in losses. This was certainly the case yesterday losing to the Bucs 34-24 which could be pin pointed on two specific plays. A putrid Philip Rivers throw to the wrong team, yes straight up no receiver in sight rather Bucs CB Leonard Johnson who said after the game “I wasn’t expecting the ball to be coming in my area” taking it to the house the other way for 83 yards. And of course we cannot forget the blocked punt return for a TD.The Chargers outgained the Bucs 426 to 279 yards had nearly twice as many first downs 23 to 12, won the time of possession battle 36 to 23 minutes. So when a reporter asked head coach Norv Turner after the game about these meltdowns he provided an epic reaction which was rather shocking due to him usually being so calm, collective and appearing to be under control despite this all to familiar script playing out seemingly every week in San Diego. Check it out:Watch this video on YouTube Embedded with WP YouTube Lyte.I honestly could not stop laughing after watching this clip multiple times. It really is an absolute joke how this team has such terrible lack of discipline and always find ways to lose games they should win. There is only so much blame that can be put on the players for the last number of years. Rather most of it should be put on the coach whose job is to make this team more mentally prepared to handle these situations in tight games. Ok fine maybe the bad interceptions Rivers throws put on him; but a blocked punt that is absurd.Yes it was a stupid question by the reporter because we all know that Turner does not like the results. But, it was nice to see this get a rile out of him, get him worked up and show some emotion, instead of always acting stoic and seemingly not getting worked up like he should.I have been burnt real bad the past couple of seasons betting on this team and have learned my lesson the hard way. Was very tempted yesterday to take San Diego but made the wise decision to back off the game knowing very well a new kind of meltdown was in store.Turner should have been fired last off season but owner Dean Spanos refused to and also kept his #1 supporter GM AJ Smith around for one more kick at the can. I think it’s safe to say their final chance is dwindling away. Come on Spanos wake up and smell the roses, get rid of these two losers. If you had the nerve to fire Schottenheimer after going 14-2 and actually making the playoffs every year how is that missing the playoffs with .500 records worthy of being kept around?
