The Eagles playoff chances just became a little more bleak. The linchpin of the Eagles offensive line, Jamaal Jackson, is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. If you need any indicator of just how important J. Jackson was to this team, take a look at the difference between the first and second halves yesterday. They were pumping like a well oiled machine in the first before Jackson was lost to injury. The second half was not pretty.

It's rough news for a team that despite a real tight win was heading in to the post-season on a hot streak.

In lighter news...

While it appeared back in camp that DeSean Jackson wasn't exactly thrilled that the Birds went out and took a WR in the first round, winning changes all of that. This anecdote from the locker room yesterday makes you smile. Ruben Frank writes:

Jeremy Maclin was trying to talk about his remarkable sideline reception in the final seconds of the Eagles-Broncos game, and he kept getting interrupted by the guy in the next locker over.

"You're looking at greatness," DeSean Jackson hollered. "Greatness. Greatness."

Not exactly the most original nickname, but Greatness and Da Weapon seem to be getting along just fine. If Maclin keeps making catches like that nasty toe-toucher to clinch yesterday's victory, they're going to be a scary duo to watch for years.*

*Assuming Drew Rosenhaus doesn't screw it up.
