The Raiders faced the Chicago Bears in their third preseason game of the season and lost 34-26. There were many disappointing moments, but there were also a few nice performances. Matt Flynn started the game for the silver and black, but the quarterback really struggled. The offensive line had yet another weak performance, struggling to protect the quarterback and give him time to throw the ball or make plays happen. Before being pulled late in the second quarter, Flynn went 3-6 for only 19 yards while throwing two interceptions. Flynn made a few nice passes and picked up some ground on his own, but overall did not play well. As Flynn had a poor performance, Pryor shined. He entered the game and created a spark on the field. With his athleticism and running threat he was able to dodge the pressure and make plays happen both by rushing and throwing. Pryor finished the game going 7-9 passing for 93 yards including a nice touchdown pass to rookie tight end Nick Kasa. Rushing wi...

Raiders considering Terrell Pryor as Week 1 QB

getty images The Oakland Raiders are having second thoughts about starting quarterback Matt Flynn. Acquired by Oakland in the offseason the 28-year-old Flynn was considered a near lock to start at quarterback for Week 1 of the season. Matt Flynn didn’t look very good in the Raiders third preseason game

While the Raiders don’t have the NFL’s worst quarterback situation in the NFL,  they’re also not in an ideal position on the other hand. Matt Flynn is a solid player that is ideally a very good NFL back up.  The problem is that he’s the Raiders starter right now and he wasn’t very impressive during Friday night’s preseason game. Flynn completed only three of six passes...

Terrelle Prior didn't win the Oakland QB job with last night's performance

After last night’s terrible performance by Raiders quarterback Matt Flynn, many will be quick to jump on the Terrelle Prior bandwagon. Sure Flynn played poorly. In fact, with a stats line featuring nearly as many completions to the defense as the offense, one can make the case that Flynn isn’t worthy of starting for anyone in the NFL, but let’s take a step back. First off...

Pryor to start for Raiders Thursday, Flynn resting with elbow tendonitis

Last year Matt Flynn entered training camp with a shot at the starting job only to lose it to a quarterback who outplayed him in the preseason by making plays with both his arm and his legs while Flynn struggled with an elbow injury. History may be repeating itself. Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area reports that Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Sunday that the team will be resting Flynn...

Raiders quarterback competition still open

A case of déjà vu for Matt Flynn?

Photo: Ben Margot / AP Images A year ago, Matt Flynn was given a big contract to be the new starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks.  He promptly lost the starting job to a certain rookie Russell Wilson.  Wilson had a great rookie campaign, leading the Seahawks back to the playoffs and making the Pro Bowl along the way. After the Seahawks decided to trade him to the Oakland...
