Veteran wide receiver Chad Ochocinco signed with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, according to his own news service. OCCNreport.com, which stands for the OchoCinco News Network, carried an "exclusive" story that said, "We just got confirmation from Chad Ochocinco that he has just signed with the Miami Dolphins. "The 6 time Pro Bowler will now get a chance to finish his career in his home state." Ochocinco's new Twitter avatar also had him wearing a Miami uniform and he had changed the description of himself to "Dolphins WR." The deal is for one year, according to multiple reports. He worked out with the team earlier Monday and Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said the coaching staff was "doing our homework" on the 34-year-old, who was released by the Patriots last week. Earlier, the Miami Herald reported that Ochocinco felt the team had "genuine interest" in signing him to a contract. Ochocinco, who played at Miami Beach High School, is coming off a career-worst season, recording only 15 catches for 276 yards and one touchdown in a limited role in the Patriots' prolific passing attack. In 10 seasons with the Bengals, he amassed a franchise record 10,783 receiving yards. The colorful Ochocinco, who boasts nearly 3.5 million followers on Twitter, had reportedly told friends that he would like to play in Miami, where he is set to marry VH1 reality star Evelyn Lozada. The Dolphins traded Brandon Marshall, their top wideout the past two seasons, to the Chicago Bears and opted not to select a wide receiver until the late rounds of the NFL Draft.
