The foundation of every football team is the offensive line. Without that unit playing well, the offense doesn’t score and the defense has to continue to come on to the field after several three-and-outs. Baltimore happens to have a need at offensive line this offseason. Ben Grubbs is a free agent and as I wrote last week, it doesn’t look like the Pro Bowl left guard will be back with the Ravens. His absence leaves a huge void. Additionally, center Matt Birk hasn’t decided whether or not he will retire and he’s a free agent this offseason along with backup interior lineman Andre Gurode. That, folks, is 40 percent of Baltimore’s starting offensive line that doesn’t look like it will be back for 2012. Lucky for Baltimore, it appears this year’s draft has a deep crop of offensive linemen. The guy I keep seeing being taken is Wisconsin center Peter Konz. Konz is a center and could step in as starter if Gurode or Birk isn’t brought back. Beyond Konz, the Ravens could draft a guard late...
