Take a step back in time to Super Bowl XXXVI when the Patriots took on “The Greatest Show on Turf,” aka the St. Louis Rams. In that epic matchup, a standout third-year receiver from NC State was involved in one of the more notable plays of the game. He slipped off the line, allowing none other than O-T-I-S Smith to grab an interception and take it 30 yards to set up a Adam Vinatieri field goal, one that would keep them in it later in that game. You know how that turned out. That receiver? Torry Holt. While we may not always think of that particular play when Holt’s name comes up, most of us remember his consistency. With the exception of his rookie season and the two most recent years, he’s eclipsed the 1000-yards receiving mark in each of those seasons while helping forge Kurt Warner as the greatest stockboy-to-Super Bowl MVP story ever (unless Tom Brady worked at a Shaw’s somewhere in the offseason).
