The Indianapolis Colts had a special visitor watching practice today at Anderson University: Andrew Luck's father, Oliver, was on hand to get a glimpse at his son's progress as an NFL quarterback. Of course, the Colts are quite used to having a quarterback's father around watching, having spent 14 years with Archie and Peyton Manning. Oliver himself was a quarterback in the NFL with the Houston Oilers and is currently athletic director at West Virginia University. After practice, Oliver Luck joked with Pat McAfee, a West Virginia alum, about his donation to the university this year. McAfee was in a different role today as the main place kicker. While not as precise as Adam Vinatieri has been (for which the cameramen on the lifts are thankful) he showed plenty strength in the "boomstick" including nailing a 50 yard field goal as practice ended. Head coach Chuck Pagano elected to end practice about 15 minutes early today after the team had practiced on co...

After 1 week, Colts' new QB still has work to do

Andrew Luck keeps getting rave reviews from longtime NFL players and coaches. He's not sure he deserves them. The No. 1 overall draft pick says he's still trying to learn the Colts offense, get in sync with his new receivers and figure out how to read NFL defenses. Unofficially, Luck completed 122 of 162 passes with seven touchdowns and five interceptions in team drills...

Luck learning quickly after first week at Colts camp

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will make his NFL debut in eight days against the St. Louis Rams at Lucas Oil Stadium, but that realization threw off the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft when reminded of it. "I didn't realize we had a game then, to be honest," Luck told the Indianapolis Star after Saturday's morning practice. "We'...

Jerry Hughes Fighting for a Roster Spot, Literally

The Indianapolis Colts returned to the practice field at Anderson University to some typical August heat. That was nothing compared to the heat between OLB Jerry Hughes and new offensive tackle Winston Justice. The two got into the first skirmish of this year's training camp. The brief bout was highlighted by Justice auditioning for the Olympic hammer throw team, tossing...

Colts new coach fills in for missing assistant

New Colts coach Chuck Pagano got a reminder Friday of life as an assistant coach. Pagano filled in for safeties coach Roy Anderson, who left training camp because of a death in the family. Pagano did not say when Anderson would be back. Anderson is one of two coaches Pagano brought with him to Indianapolis from Baltimore, where Pagano spent four seasons as an assistant - the last...

Reggie Wayne Likes Leading Younger, Hungrier Colts Club

When Indianapolis Colts veteran receiver Reggie Wayne signed his contract extension earlier this offseason, he knew he was going to be a part of a team in transition after spending the majority of his career playing for a perennial playoff contender. The Week In Review: Training Camp Week One

Finally, actual football is taking place. After a couple months break for the players, training camp has begun. While preseason games don't begin for the Colts until September 12th, training camp finally gives us a chance to look at real football, instead of exaggerated story lines and off the field incidents. So, with a week in the books, what have we learned so far? First...

The Colts are Getting Chippy

There have probably been 2 fights in the last 7 training camps. There were 2 today. It's clear that this team is completely different from the old one. It was a hot muggy day in Indianapolis, with temperatures reaching a high of 97 degrees farenheit. Nobody likes that, and you would have to think that the players were a little more edgy. They were. The first fight happened...

AP Photo According to rTV6 in Indianapolis, the Colts are apparently still having trouble selling tickets for the upcoming season.  In an attempt to keep their sell-out streak alive, the Colts will begin selling single-game tickets next Tuesday. “You can’t affect the game from your couch,” said V.P. of  ticket sales Larry Hall.  ”Come to the game; it’s an exciting place...

Indianapolis Colts trade CB Kevin Thomas and a 7th round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for MLB Moise Fukou and MLB Greg Lloyd

Trade for Indianapolis: The Colts needed middle linebacker depth after losing AJ Edds to a torn ACL earlier  this week, so they acquired Greg Lloyd and Moise Fukou from the Eagles. However, neither of these guys ever play and the Colts had to give up Kevin Thomas, which depletes their depth at cornerback even more. Thomas wasn’t very good last season, but he was a 2010 3rd round...

Luck's teammates marvel at progress

Andrew Luck might not be impressing his teammates with his vocal chords off the field, but the Colts can't help but take notice of his preparation and ability to pick up a new offense so quickly. "The quarterbacks have been (playing) well," said rookie tight end Dwayne Allen. "All three of the guys get out there and they compete, they throw it around. We'...

Colts Make Big Trade with Eagles

The Colts have made a pretty big trade with the Eagles. The Colts have traded Kevin Thomas (CB) and a conditional 7th round pick (2013) to the Eagles for Moise Fokou (LB) and Greg Lloyd (DE). The Colts have finally cut ties with Kevin Thomas, the struggling cornerback. Thomas was drafted in 2010 in the 3rd round, but an injury forced him out his rookie season. Last season, he...

Eagles trade linebackers to Colts to get CB Thomas

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired cornerback Kevin Thomas and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts that sent linebackers Moise Fokou and Greg Lloyd to the Colts.
