For the next week or so, Andrew Aziz will be breaking down some players who have a lot to prove in the upcoming season.

Joe Reitz did a pretty solid job last year considering it was his first year as a guard and he was essentially thrown into the position after the departure of Kyle Devan. He had a few errors, but that's only natural when you're new to a position and in the NFL!! Now, some of you are wondering: If he's performing so well, why is he on the chopping block? Many reasons.

Joe Reitz is an expendable player. There are, and going to be, many better guards out there, whether it be in free agency or in the draft. Joe Reitz could get better, and he must or he'll be backing up or become a free agent. Also, he's going to be a free agent in 2013, and that means he'll want a bigger contract due to his increased amount of gametime and his bigger impact. That's something that teams really don't want to do, when you can get a more skilled player out there. If you draft a guard, he'll be less expensive than Joe Reitz.

If Reitz weren't a free agent, I'd say his spot on the team wouldn't be on the line, but his starting spot could be. That's not the point of these articles. The point is to showcase players who can potentially be on a different season next year if they don't perform this season.

This year is an important one for Reitz as he must show improvements or he won't get a bigger deal.
