In the continuing saga pertaining to Kurt Warner’s comments about not wanting his children to play football, and the fallout from other NFL players who have roasted Warner for those words, Osi Umenyiora sided with Warner.

The star defensive end for the New York Giants shared a little information few NFL players can be so candid about. Umenyiora agreed with Warner’s stance, stating via twitter:

@OsiUmenyiora

It’s an awesome game and has done a lot for me, but i know when im 45 there is a strong chance i'll be in a wheelchair.

The blunt truth coming from a very reliable source.

His dark forecast paints a vivid picture of what an NFL player faces long after their NFL career is over. Umenyiora also tweeted:

@OsiUmenyiora

That "If i can avoid that for my son, i will. But if he wants to play [football] i wont stop him."

LaVar Arrington thinks that keeping kids from playing football is “sissification”

Former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington gave his opinion of the football’s “concussion crisis” on ESPN’s Outside the Lines and made it clear that he won’t be holding his kids back from playing the sport that he loves. “To me, it’s sissification, and I think that’s the only way to put it,” Arrington said. “I will not go through my life scared and I don’t want...

Stacy Robinson, a wide receiver who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants before working with the players' union, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 50. Video: Eli Manning’s SNL Sketch “Little Brothers” a Huge Winner

Eli Manning hosted Saturday Night Live this week. I did not watch it, but from various Twitter reports I saw it sounds like the consensus is that the first half of the show was great, but that the second half was not so great. This seems to be about par for the course with SNL these days. The reviews for Eli’s individual performance all seemed to be relatively positive. And as...

Osi Umenyiora: "when im 45 there is a strong chance il be in a wheelchair"

Yesterday I wrote that Cris Carter may become the voice of reason in the concussion debate. It would seem that one of the antagonists to reason and logic may be Osi Umenyiora who voiced his agreement with Kurt Warner about concerns over health concerns resulting from repeated hits to the head. Umenyiora didn't stop there. He also said that he thought he may end up in a wheel...

New York Giants: Stacy Robinson Loses Battle With Cancer

I had the pleasure of meeting Stacy Robinson back in the summer of 1987.  After that encounter, I can honestly say that I have never met a nicer and more gracious person.  Robinson lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 50. He was a member of the 1986 and 1990 Super Bowl Championship squads and played his entire career (six seasons) as a Giant. Drafted out of North Dakota...

Osi Umenyiora says there’s a good chance he’ll be in a wheelchair by age 45

In case you haven’t taken note, Kurt Warner caused quite the stir last week with his comments about not wanting his children to play football. Everyone from analysts to former players to current players have weighed in on the matter, with some ripping Warner for dogging the game while others completely agree with him. Amani Toomer was one of the first to rip Warner for his comments...

5 Collegiate Choices to Host SNL

5 Collegiate Choices to Host SNLThis past Saturday, Eli Manning hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time.  Eli has always had to live in his older brother Peyton’s shadow, and everyone wondered how the younger Manning would compare in his comedy debut.  He didn’t quite live up to Peyton, but he did do an admirable job.  He’ll just have to settle for those two Super...
