According to Packer Report’s Bill Huber, impending free agent cornerback Sam Shields is expected to reach the free agency market. The Packers have been hoping to re-sign him, and they still could, but there will be many other teams interested in bringing him in. This isn’t exactly surprising news, but it adds yet another talented player to an already intriguing free agency class. Sam Shields was one of the biggest playmakers on the Green Bay Packers’ defense this year, and has been a key piece for the Packers over the last couple of seasons. He has blazing speed that helps him keep up with some of the better wide receivers in the NFL, and that will make him a very valuable free agent target to many teams. Shields played in 14 games with the Green Bay Packers this past season, making 61 tackles to go along with four interceptions. Those four interceptions may not look very impressive, but the Green Bay defense was extremely poor at creating turnovers this past season. He was able to make plays to help seal football games and was one of the main reasons that the Packers were able to make the playoffs. There have been some questions flying around about whether or not the Packers would use their franchise tag on him, but it doesn’t appear that they will opt to do that. Green Bay is fairly deep at the cornerback position, with Tramon Williams, Micah Hyde, Davon House, and Casey Hayward all likely returning next season. Packers expect CB Sam Shields to hit open market

If there was one grip that fans of the Green Bay Packers had about their team this past year, it was how suspect the defense was for the majority of the season. The Packers defense really hasn’t been the elite unit Aaron Rodgers needs it to be and had it been solid these past few years, there’s not saying that Green Bay wouldn’t have been able to win another Super Bowl. Defense...

Report: “Increasingly Likely” Packers CB Sam Shields Will Test FA Market

According to Bill Huber, it seems ”increasingly likely” that Packers  impending free agent CB Sam Shields will test the open market in the next few weeks. Huber added that there was nothing new to report between the Packers and Shields regarding a possible extension. Shields, 26, has developed into a very solid player for the Packers since he went undrafted in 2010. Statistically...

Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre? You Make the Call

This is your opportunity to play GM for the Green Bay Packers. One game, for all the marbles. Who are you taking as your QB? Brett Favre in his prime (1995-97)? Or Aaron Rodgers, currently in his prime? This is the question which was asked on the Miller Lite Football Show this past Sunday, and garnered some interesting responses. So we wanted to open the question up to everyone...

I want to see less of the doctor

Since the season ended much of our writing has been about the roller coaster ride that was the Packers’ season, with all of the ups and downs and twists and turns. This column, really, will be no different. However, rather than tell you which Green Bay Packers should play more, or less, or be let go all together, I’m taking a completely different angle. There are players who...
