Packers In Search Of First Win As Bears Visit

By SBRForum.com

The Green Bay Packers explosive offense was muzzled in their season-opener and that’s exactly what the Chicago Bears want to hear. The two division rivals will meet up on Thursday night at Lambeau Field.

People making their NFL picks were surprised to see the Packers score just 22 points their Week 1 loss to San Francisco with one touchdown coming courtesy of the special teams. They appear to have fallen off the wagon, dating back to Week 16 last season, and the Bears could be next in line in the NFC North to take advantage.

Starting in Week 2, the Packers will have to do a better job of being balanced on offense as quarterback Aaron Rodgers had 44 pass attempts against the San Francisco 49ers while the Packers running game totaled just 45 yards on 14 carries.

The Bears offense was clicking on full cylinders in Week 1, scoring 41 points in an easy win over the Indianapolis Colts. It shouldn’t be much tougher to move the football in Week 2 as the Packers defense showed no improvements from their awful record-setting performance last season.

San Francisco, which isn’t exactly considered explosive, scored 30 points while totaling 377 yards. While the Bears running backs might not be happy about their timeshare, they should be a little more pleased about running versus Green Bay, which allowed 186 rushing yards on 32 carries last week.

For Chicago, Week 2 is a statement game. If they can go into Lambeau and get the win, they’ll in fact be the frontrunner for the division title.

Green Bay has looked sluggish since the end of last season and it seems like opposing defenses have figured them out a little bit. The Bears will be next in line to prove if that’s in fact the case.
