According to Mark Chmura, who was on ESPN Milwaukee, Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley is set to have surgery on Friday. The injury suffered was in a bang, bang play when he lowered his head and collided with Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson’s shoulder. Finley laid on the field motionless as he was attended to by medical personnel and was ultimately taken to the hospital. Finley spent days in the Intensive Care Unit from the neck and spinal injury he suffered and the Packers placed him injured reserve. The surgery has been scheduled to repair damage done there, but Finley has been resolute that he plans to resume his career after the season. That is still up in the air to this point, but the fact that seems even remotely possible is extraordinary considering the seriousness of the injury when it happened. Finley will obviously consult with doctors as he recovers from the surgery and tries to stay in shape.
