According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, undrafted rookie free agent running back Angelo Pease may have landed stud to help ou their running game.
Pease played his college ball at Kansas State and his former co-offensive coordinator Dana Dimel believes the Packers have themselves a find.
“By the end of the season,” Dimel said, “I thought he was one of the top running backs in the Big 12 with an upside higher than most kids coming out of the Big 12.”
Dimel was moved from quarterback to running back during his time at Kansas State and ran a lot of plays out of the wildcat as he made the transition.
“And by the end of the season, he was just playing tremendous,” Dimel said. “I was just sitting there, ‘Gosh darn, I wish I would have redshirted him on a personal basis. If he came back for next year, he’d be fantastic. I think he really now is starting to grasp that running back position. He’s super strong. He’s almost a 400-pound bencher and he’s a 4.4. He’s a 4.4 guy and he has that kind of strength to him, so his physical talents are tremendous.
“Every day, he learned the running back position a little bit more and got better and better at it.”
Dimel believes if Pease is given time to develop he can make an impact in the NFL.
“I thought Angelo in a lot of ways — I don’t want to take anything away from John, he made all-conference again — but Angelo just had a different style to him and had different things to bring to the table,” Dimel said. “Again, with his upside, he’s going to continue to get better and better. He really learned how to play the running back position. You can’t teach the speed and strength that he has.”
Pease is going to have work his tail off to make the Packers final roster. They already drafted Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin back in April. Not to mention they already have James Starks and DuJuan Harris.

When Alabama running back Eddie Lacey was available with the 61st overall pick in this spring’s draft, the Green Bay Packers were pleasantly shocked. Once again Ted Thompson gets his guy, and he gets him with the fourth to last pick in the second round. Most draft pundits predicted the crimson tide standout would be the first running back off the board, sometime late in the first...
It’s the proverbial ‘contract year’ for key Green Bay Packers players and that means one thing, big performances.
Tight end Jermichael Finley, cornerback Sam Shields, nose tackle B.J. Raji, center Evan Dietrich-Smith, cornerback Davon House are free agents in 2014 and will be trying to convince the team they are long term material.
The banter is being tossed about, ‘my...
Aaron Rodgers is a heck of a quarterback; truly one of the greats in the game today. He's won a Super Bowl, been named its MVP, the league MVP, an All-Pro, a Pro Bowler--there is little that he hasn't done during his career and he still has plenty of good years left.
That's why the Packers signed him to a nice 5-year, $110 million contract extension making him the...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It didn't take long for Charles Johnson to discover an early similarity between the start of his career with the Green Bay Packers and that of the franchise's all-time leading receiver Donald Driver.
Fourteen years ago, Driver was drafted in the seventh round by the Packers. Now, just as Driver exits Green Bay with a key to the city and a street named after...
If Johnathan Franklin is going to become the mayor of Green Bay one day like he hopes, there are certain things that the Packers rookie running back will have to get used to.
After growing up in Los Angeles, one of the things Franklin is not yet accustomed to is the hunting culture in Wisconsin and the way that some choose to display their kills.
"I saw a moose head in a room...
Rookie running back Johnathan Franklin is expected to team up with fellow rookie Eddie Lacy and form a powerful 1-2 punch in the ground game for the Packers.
Franklin was selected by the Packers in the fourth round, with the 125th overall pick, of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The need to take the pressure off quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the passing game and get back to a more balance...
Summer is here and another round of OTAs in Green Bay, Wisconsin has passed. And another promise from head coach Mike McCarthy that the Green Bay running game will be better. Packers fans remember that ever since McCarthy was hired he has promised a good running game. And although he has delivered a Super Bowl and is one of the elite coaches in the NFL, he has rarely delivered...
Today's installment of Choose Your Quarterback pits Aaron Rodgers vs. Peyton Manning, the Nos. 1 and 3 assets in my rankings of the 32 presumed starting quarterbacks.
Here's a week-by-week fantasy breakdown of Manning vs. Rodgers, just in case you're torn on which quarterback to grab in Round 1:

A few seasons ago it seemed that Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley seemed destined for super stardom. Back in 2009, Finley’s second season in the NFL, the mercurial talent started to show his immense potential.
After catching just six passes in his rookie season in 2008, the former University of Texas star caught 55 passes for 676 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games...
Green Bay Packers rookie Johnathan Franklin is fighting for a roster spot.
As he does so, the California transplant is adjusting to a lifestyle that is night and day from what he used to.
Franklin told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he saw and did a few things during Packers mini-camp that turned his head.
“Oh my gosh, from Los Angles to Green Bay, Wisconsin,” Franklin exclaimed...
His first statement in the NFL was a loud one. He took a kickoff out from the back of the end zone in his first career game and returned it 108 yards for a touchdown. In his first game as a pro Randall Cobb had tied an NFL record.
Cobb would return a punt for a touchdown later in the season against the Minnesota Vikings, giving the Packers a weapon they had not had since Allen Rossum...
I recently wrote an article (with the help of Rourke Douglas Decker) stating that Matthew Stafford is not a bad quarterback against good teams. In it, I examined Stafford’s career performance in games against winning teams (those that win nine or more games in a season) and non-winning teams (those that win eight or fewer [...]The post Who fares better against winning teams:...
