When Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji saw the envelope from the NFL, he figured he would be writing a big check.

He expected something in the neighborhood of a $20,000 fine for his personal foul penalty in Sunday’s game against the Saints.

So Raji was relieved that he was fined “about $7,800,” he said today.

The NFL announces most player fines on Fridays, but most likely Raji’s fine will match the $7,875 that Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner was hit with last week for his shot on Packers receiver Greg Jennings.

“It was enough money to make me think about it but not enough to lose sleep or cry,” Raji said.

When asked whether he would appeal, Raji said: “I’ll probably just pay it. I don’t want them to revisit the play, so I’ll just leave it the way it is.”
