The Packers may elect to use the franchise tag on kicker Mason Crosby, writes Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Honestly I’m a little bit surprised (they haven’t used the tag on Crosby), just cover your tracks a little bit,” Crosby’s agent, Mike McCartney, said. “The (tender) number is not outrageous.” Crosby, 26, has handled the kicking duties for the Packers since being chosen in the sixth-round of the 2007 NFL Draft. In 64 games, Crosby is 107-of-137 (78.1% ) on field goal attempts, and has 47 career touchbacks. Crosby is a player the Packers likely won’t have to overpay to secure for the long-term.
