Chase Blackburn enjoyed the best year of his nine-year career last season with the Giants. Sunday against Seattle a healthy Blackburn didn’t see a defensive snap. The Carolina Panthers have one of the best linebacking corps in the NFL in Thomas Davis Luke Kuechly and Jon Beason but the Panthers are hoping to get Blackburn more involved in live-action snaps moving forward. Beason who is coming off microfracture knee surgery in October is still easing into his starting role and there’s been some bumps along the way – Beason lost his angle on a couple of plays Sunday against Seattle. But Panthers coach Ron Rivera said it’s not Beason’s struggles that have prompted the coaching staff to realize they should get Blackburn involved. “It wouldn’t be because (Beason) is struggling because he’s got to work through it and we know that” Rivera said. “It would be more so that Chase has got to start getting snaps. We’ve talked about that. He’s a veteran guy who underst...

Carolina Panthers at Buffalo Bills: Three Bold Predictions

The one great thing that came out of the Carolina Panthers' preseason was that Cam Newton was named a team captain. While it seems a little odd that would be a real positive for this franchise, the fact 52 other men stood in a locker room and told their starting quarterback that they believed in was paramount to the success of this franchise this season. So much is riding on the...

Carolina Panthers at Buffalo Bills: 2013 Week 2 NFL Pick

Carolina Panthers (0-1) at Buffalo Bills (0-1) The Panthers were my biggest sleeper coming into the season. In 2012, The Panthers won 6 of their final 9 games to finish 7-9. Among those 6 wins were victories over division winners Washington and Atlanta, as well as a victory in New Orleans against the Saints. Newton was noticeably better in the 2nd half of the season, completing...
