An MRI shows Panthers' backup running back Jonathan Stewart tore the MCL in his right knee in Sunday night's 31-13 loss to New Orleans. Carolina spokesman Charlie Dayton announced the injury Monday. Panthers coach Ron Rivera says Stewart will be out a minimum of 10 days, but remains optimistic he could return at some point this season. Stewart will not play Sunday against the New York Jets. The Panthers (9-4) are positioned for a postseason berth with three games left. It's been a rough season for Stewart, who missed the first seven games of the year on the physically unable to perform list with an ankle injury.

Panthers DE Greg Hardy calls himself 'Kraken', claims to have attended Hogwarts (Video)

Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Greg Hardy had some fun recording his introduction for NBC's Sunday Night Football game against New Orleans. Instead of using his real name and the college he attended, Hardy called himself "Kraken" and used the name of the Harry Potter school "Hogwarts".It should be noted that a couple of months back, Hardy claimed he...

Carolina Panthers take one on the chin in New Orleans

The Carolina Panthers learned Sunday night that facing the combination Drew Brees, Sean Payton and the Superdome is tough to beat. That trio hasn't lost since the end of the 2010 season (excluding Payton’s suspension in 2012). New Orleans Saints quarterback joined Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and John Elway as the only QBs to top 50,000-yards with his fourth...

Jets secondary still vulnerable to WR2s; Brandon LaFell up next

We spent a great deal of time leading up to Week 14 discussing the anticipated value of Andre Holmes against the New York Jets given his role as WR2 in Oakland and the statistical weakness of the Jets defense against that position, highlighted by our Mike Omelan. Holmes wasn’t exactly a fantasy dynamo this week. While his three catch, seven target outing produced 63 yards and was...

Greg Hardy Lists ‘Hogwarts’ as Alma Mater During Sunday Night Football Player Intro (Video)

Apparently, the Panthers have a defensive end named “Kraken” who studied wizardry in college. That self-proclaimed wizard is Greg Hardy, who had a little fun with his player introduction during Carolina’s blowout loss in New Orleans on Sunday night. We’re not sure if Hardy’s naming Hogwarts as his alma mater has any significance, but his “Kraken” nickname is actually a...

Rivera: Panthers might have got full of themselves

Coach Ron Rivera said Carolina's 31-13 loss to the Saints Sunday night was ''humbling experience'' and could help his team to refocus as it makes a playoff push. ''Maybe we needed a little bit of that,'' Rivera said. ''Maybe we got a little full of ourselves and thought we were capable of just showing up.'' Rivera said he thought...

Panthers’ Greg Hardy calls himself “Kraken”, claims he went to Hogwarts

The Carolina Panthers defense didn’t have enough in the tank to contain Drew Brees and the Saints for the divisional Sunday Night Football matchup. Defensive end, Greg Hardy, wearing sunglasses, set a new bar for intros when he introduced himself as “Kraken”, and said that his alma mater was Harry...

Panthers’ Luke Kuechly And Teacher Have Dance-Off (Video)

As one of the top linebackers in the NFL, there’s no question Panthers’ Luke Kuechly has great moves on the field, unfortunately those off of it leave a lot to be desired. In a recent NFL Play 60 event at Fort Mill Elementary School, Kuechly challenged 1st grade teacher Nikki Letterhoss to a dance-off. Neither would win “So You Think You Can Dance”, but the students loved...

Panthers WR Steve Smith Tosses Saints LB David Hawthorne Like a Little--You Know

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has a bit of a reputation. Along with being one of the best wide receivers in the game the man likes to get physical and has no problem running his mouth like crazy. While his skill alone would be enough to make defenses take notice, his mouth encourages them to play him nice and hard..New Orleans was certainly doing that during Sunday...
