Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network believes that the Panthers should be willing and prepared to trade RB DeAngelo Williams before the trade deadline. Lombardi mentions that the Panthers, after getting off to a 1-5 start, should start thinking ahead for next season. With Tuesday’s deadline approaching, the Panthers have an opportunity to trade for draft picks while getting rid of Williams large salary. Carolina already has plenty of depth in their backfield, so it remains a possibility that they could part with one of their two starting running backs. Williams has been struggling to produce this season (177 yards, 2 TD’s on 50 carries) and should at least be considered a potential trade option. Source: NFL Trade Rumors Attached Thumbnails

NFL Rumors: Will Carolina Panthers Trade DeAngelo Williams By NFL Trade Deadline?

The Carolina panthers may trade DeAngelo Williams prior to the NFL Trade Deadline this Tuesday, as they continue to shake things up following the removal of Marty Hurney as the team’s general manager earlier this week. Williams and his backfield mate in Jonathan Stewart are two of the reasons why the Panthers fired Hurney, as they have been disappointments since both signing big...

DeAngelo Williams Could Be Traded by Carolina

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams could be dealt before next week's trading deadline. SOURCE: Michael Lombardi, NFL NetworkFantasy Spin:Williams is expendable now that Jonathan Stewart has emerged as the team's every down back. The Panthers certainly wouldn't mind getting rid of his awful contract either (five years, $43 million). With that said, no deal is imminent...

Don't believe the critics: Cam Newton is a franchise quarterback

Panthers nation has been in a constant panic this week. First, it was another disconcerting press conference for their franchise quarterback, Cam Newton, after the Panthers suffered their fourth consecutive loss against the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. Then, Monday, things became even more hectic when Marty Hurney was abruptly fired less than halfway through his 11th season as...

Panthers offensive lineman Lee Ziemba has been suspended for four games after testing positive for a banned stimulant, Ziemba said Saturday in a statement released by his agent. Fantasy Football News Week Eight: Jonathan Stewart to start for Carolina Panthers

Last season, the Carolina Panthers fielded a very formidable rushing attack, aided in part by rookie QB Cam Newton. This season, Newton has struggled and his lack of performance on the field has affected the Panthers rushing game so far this season. The Panthers are a team in turmoil right now and as head coach Ron Rivera looks for answers, it appears that Jonathan Stewart will be...

Jonathan Stewart Under The Friday Night Lights

I love Friday nights Juan… Fantasy owners have been waiting for one of the Panthers RBs to emerge and J-Stew should be the guy that Rivera gives the rock to.  Rivera confirmed that he wanted to get one RB in a rhythm instead of rotating all three guys in and out of the lineup.  It’s about time. Stewart is a top 5-10 talent at the RB slot, but the most carries he has received...

Carolina head coach Ron Rivera acknowledged Friday that Jonathan Stewart is officially the Panthers' starting running back.Fantasy Spin:Stewart hopped DeAngelo Williams on the depth chart last week against Dallas and it looks he'll continue to play with the starter distinction for the forseeable future. With that said, Stewart faces an uphill battle this week against the Bears.

Ron Rivera Hire Doomed Panthers GM Marty Hurney, Sources Say

Panthers general manager Marty Hurney was fired Monday after the team's fourth straight defeat and one of the reasons is that he hired Ron Rivera as head coach in 2011, which league sources say was against the reservations of owner Jerry Richardson, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports. Rivera knows his job status is being evaluated week-to-week. The entire staff fears their own...

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart To Make Second Straight Start This Week

Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart will make his second consecutive start Sunday against Chicago, although coach Ron Rivera plans to get DeAngelo Williams more work than a week ago. Rivera said he wants his backs to get in more of a rhythm, rather than substituting them every play or every couple of plays like the Panthers have done since Stewart arrived in 2008 to form the...

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears: Three Bold Predictions

The Panthers are reeling fast at 1-5.  It doesn’t get any easier as they face a pack of hungry Bears looking to feast on Cam Newton and company.Cam Newton is overrated!I didn’t like him at Auburn and I don’t think he is a good NFL quarterback.  Yes, I think he will be a bust, and yes I am an African-American, so you can throw the race card out the window.  The bust comparisons...

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears: Week 8 NFL Pick

Carolina Panthers (1-5) at Chicago Bears (5-1) I normally hate laying more than a touchdown, but I like the Bears this week for several reasons. The first reason is simply that I think they’re the best team in the league in this wide open NFL (the undefeated Falcons have played a cupcake schedule and won [...]

Bears defense strong when it counts

In Chicago’s 23-22 victory over the Carolina Panthers this afternoon, the Bears’ defense overcame a lopsided time of possession disadvantage, allowing yards but not touchdowns.

Week Eight NFL Game Preview: Carolina Panthers @ Chicago Bears

The Carolina Panthers (1-5) and the Chicago Bears (5-1) will meet for the eighth time ever on Sunday afternoon. The Bears lead the all-time series 4-3. Last season, the Panthers came to Soldier Field and fell short 34-29, but gave the Bears everything they had.
