Oregon Sports News:
Hail to the Giants! Super Bowl XLVI (That’s 46 to the Roman Numerically challenged) is in the books and America’s most populated city has yet another championship to annoyingly rub in the noses of less fortunate, however far more deserving professional fan bases. That’s not to say they didn’t earn it, Eli Manning didn’t play well and Tom Coughlin can’t coach, but more so that if I’ve tired of any particular act, it’s the one which tries desperately to sell a New York City franchise as an underdog.
There you have it, I’ve kicked-off my soon-to-be diatribe of negativity with an obvious cheap shot at the city whose franchises offer the largest built-in rooting section, along with an even larger sect of wannabes. I’m never amazed, but often disgusted by the indestructible army of Giant, Yankee and even Jet fans who seem to multiply at the rate of Gremlins in a flash flood. You don’t see too many Browns fans in these parts, even fewer Marlin fans, and I’m relatively certain I’ve

Manning says older brother Peyton Manning is 'proud of me'
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner put together an illustrious career during his 12 years with the Rams, Cardinals and Giants. In fact, his four Pro Bowls, two MVP awards and 1999 Super Bowl MVP might one day land him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Apparently, he doesn't feel Giants QB Eli Manning is worthy of that honor -- at least not yet. During an appearance Tuesday on...
Eli Manning looked a little bleary-eyed as he arrived for the Super Bowl MVP news conference on Monday morning. He said he had stayed up most of the night celebrating the New York Giants' 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots.
For the second time in five seasons, New York quarterback Eli Manning has led the Giants to the Super Bowl title -- not too shabby for a former first-round draft pick who was criticized often in his first four NFL seasons.
On one hand Eli Manning earned his place among not just the present day’s NFL elite but among the great NFL quarterbacks of all time. While Tom Coughlin rose to the ranks of all-time great NFL coaches.
On the other hand, Touchdown Tom Brady and The Hoodie literally and figuratively let another Super Bowl ring fall from their grasp.
With Super Bowl XLVI now a day behind us,...
Thousands of fans roared as New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning hoisted the team's Super Bowl trophy from a glittering blue-and-white float Tuesday as the victory parade made its way down the Canyon of Heroes, where the city has honored stars for almost a century.
There's no need for me to rehash all the ins and outs of last night's game. Sports Illustrated's website provides some great analysis and commentary if you're online, and ESPN is talking it to death if you're watching tv. All I will say is that I love my team, I love that they wanted to win, and I kinda love that it was the Patriots that they stuck it to. I will...
Eli Manning tells David Letterman this Super Bowl championship is for his teammates.
Manning made an appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman" on Monday, a day after the quarterback led the Giants to a 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots for his second title in five years.
Tom Coughlin has never won the NFL's Coach of the Year Award. Eli Manning has never been the league's MVP. With two Super Bowl victories in the past five seasons, though, they have emerged as the NFL's top coaching-quarterback tandem. And the best might be yet to come.
