Patriots coach Bill Belichick spent yesterday playing Pebble Beach as part of a pro-am, partnering with old buddy Nick Saban from Alabama. Word was Belichick shot in the 90s.
What he didn’t do was talk football publicly. ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski tried, but all Belichick would say was, “I’m just out here having fun.”
Belichick didn’t say anything besides that, though it’s kinda cool to hear pro Jerry Pate say nice things about his swing. Pate, Saban’s buddy and a Bama grad, called Belichick’s swing, “Totally under control.”
What you’ll probably be more interested in is that, as Wojciechowski reports, Belichick picked Saban’s brain on recruiting. With a ton of Crimson Tide draftable high-round players — RB Trent Richardson, CB Dre Kirkpatrick, LB Donta Hightower, S Mark Barron — Belichick no doubt took advantage of his opportunity.
