Patriots Ty Warren wasn’t thrilled with the news that he suffered a hip injury so serious that it will require surgery on Monday. But if there was a way to sum up his reaction, it was a matter-of-fact, What can you do?
Warren felt pain on the second day of camp, then had it checked out for more than a week. The decision to have surgery was made, and he now heads out to Colorado to have it done by Vail specialist Dr. Mark Philippon, who famously worked on A-Rod’s hip at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic.
After playing with nagging injuries last year, Warren made this call with the future in mind.
“I want to play as long as I can, I don’t want to put a band-aid on it every week,” Warren told The Herald’s Karen Guregian a few minutes ago. “I personally can’t afford to be laboring around another year. I’ve been doing it for the past year and a half.”
