The Rap Sheet:
Our friend Twitter had you covered on this a few hours ago…. But the Patriots hosted free agent offensive lineman Cory Procter for a visit earlier today, I confirmed right before I sat down for dinner.
Procter, a 6-foot-4, 311-pound former Montana product, has been the backup center and interior lineman for the Cowboys over the past three seasons. He actually started 11 games in 2008.
The Patriots have center Dan Koppen and rookie draft pick Ted Larsen behind him, so this would theoretically be for depth. Procter, who has also visited the Broncos and is slated to visit the Dolphins, signed his second-round tender worth $1.759 million, but the Cowboys cut him, anyway.
If you’re psyched about this visit… don’t read the comments section of this blog entry.
