The Rap Sheet:
The Patriots made the move we all knew was coming. They place DE Andre Carter on Injured Reserve because of a leg injury suffered in the win over the Broncos. We told you about this yesterday.
Perhaps more interesting is that they did not fill his spot… Yet.
The Patriots also signed DL Cedric McKinley to their practice squad to fill a spot Ross Ventrone vacated on Saturday. But they didn’t sign him to fill Carter’s spot. That means they could promote DE Markell Carter from the practice squad, promote McKinley, or sign someone else.
Who is McKinley? A 24-year old originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent out of Minnesota in 2010 but was released prior to the start of camp. He spent part of 2011 on the Vikings’ practice squad.
