According to Mike Florio of profootballtalk.com, the New England Patriots have a new talent source it seems with the Canadian Football League.
First it was Toronto Argonauts defensive lineman Armond Armstead, and now it’s Winnipeg Blue Bomber defensive lineman Jason Vega.
The Patriots announced both signings today, with high hopes for Armstead who was said to be a first round talent who health issues took him to the CFL.
Armstead attended the University of Southern California, playing three seasons from 2008 to 2010, starting 17 games and recording 59 tackles.
He went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft. Later in 2012, Armstead was signed by the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. In his rookie CFL season, Armstead compiled 43 defensive tackles, 2 special teams tackles, and 6 quarterback sacks.
