The Patriots will be attempting to stop the Jets ground-and-pound attack without their two top inside linebackers. And that’s never a good thing, even if it’s not a surprise.
LB Brandon Spikes (MCL sprain) and LB Dane Fletcher (thumb) have been ruled out for Sunday’s showdown against the Jets.
Neither move is a surprise, considering they didn’t practice. But it still hurts. Without Spikes, the Pats will no doubt turn to LB Gary Guyton a super-sub who plays every position in that group. He just won’t have the same thumb as Spikes brings. But perhaps this is the game captain Jerod Mayo is back looking like himself. Oh, and S Patrick Chung (foot) is questionable.
