The Rap Sheet:
The Patriots received some positive news today, as CB Devin McCourty was out at practice just a week after separating his shoulder. That’s good. The bad? He was limited and probably won’t play.
We know that because McCourty was listed as doubtful on the injury report that just arrived. Figure he’s out, barring something crazy, but that does seem to indicate it’s a one-week injury. As for LB Brandon Spikes and LB Dane Fletcher, both are out. But WR Wes Welker (knee) is probable.

Earlier this season, New England Patriots WR Wes Welker was on pace to break the single season receiving yardage record, but he has now fallen off that pace. The record is held by WR Jerry Rice. While a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Rice set the record in the 1995 season. After recording 122 receptions, Rice logged 1,848 yards and 15 touchdowns.

After the Steelers game, it was his neck. After the Giants, his ribs. After beating the Jets, the injury was to his knee.
Yup, Wes Welker has been banged up recently, as teams have keyed on him. There’s no indication that Welker will miss the Monday Night Football game against the Chiefs, but it’s worth wondering… how does he feel?
“I feel all right,” Welker said. “I...

FOXBORO, Mass. -- There were a ton of great questions for this week's mailbag, so much so that I had to trim a few good ones. Thanks as always for submitting them, and if I didn't get to yours, please come on back next week for another round. Are the Patriots in trouble without Devin McCourty? --Mike L. (South Boston) Well, it looks like he has escaped anything serious with...
Unless you're an SMU fan -- or scouting guru Mel Kiper -- you may not have Cole Beasley's name on the tip of your tongue.
Beasley is the Mustangs' slot receiver, and although he's been toiling in relative anonymity for am average team in an oft-ignored conference, he's an interesting case study.
See, Beasley is a slot receiver.
Even though he catches plenty...

The Patriots’ Wes Welker was listed on the injury report with a neck issue after Steelers safety Troy Polamalu violently twisted the slot receiver’s head while making a tackle Oct. 30. A big hit by the Giants Nov. 6 resulted in Welker being listed with a rib issue.
Kickoff for the Patriots-Chiefs game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., which is still hours away. For the players, it takes foooooooorever. They wait and wait, go to meetings, then wait some more.
It’s worth asking, while we’re still killing time today… what do the Patriots do while they’re waiting?
“We have meetings in the morning,” WR Wes Welker said, “and then I go back...

For the last time before they face the Chiefs on Monday night, Patriots coach Bill Belichick and his team worked out today. They did so in shells on the game field, and that’s where they’ll play on Monday.
This is usually the time you can find out who will play in the game, as availability for the last practice often dictates that. What did we learn?
