Found November 26, 2013 on Ex Pats:
Per multiple sources, the New England Patriots will sign tight end D.J. Williams. The addition is a bit of a surprise, but it could mean that the Patriots will be without Michael Hoomanawanui for a good length of time given his knee injury. Williams addition will mean that the Patriots will have three healthy tight ends on the roster, Rob Gronkowski and Matthew Mulligan being the other two. As @JasonLaCanfora reported, the Patriots have signed TE D.J. Williams, a source confirmed. — Field Yates (@FieldYates) November 26, 2013 Williams entered the NFL as a fifth round pick out of Arkansas. He played all sixteen games in his first year in the league for the Green Bay Packers and played seven games for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds. While Mulligan is more of blocking tight end, and Gronk is a force of nature in everything he does, Williams plays more like a fullback, meaning he probably will have more in commo...

Stevan Ridley Says New England ‘Deserves Better’ Than Fumble That Caused Bill Belichick to Bench Him

FOXBORO, Mass. — It’s an uncomfortable process that does not seem to be going away. First, Stevan Ridley starts the game, runs well and gets the Patriots moving down the field. Then he fumbles, Bill Belichick benches him and the running back has to stand in front of the media to answer questions about his fumblitis. Of course, Ridley wasn’t the only player at Gillette Stadium...

Patriots Captains Thought Bill Belichick Was ‘Crazy’ for Taking Wind, Giving Ball to Peyton Manning in Overtime

Many people in New England were likely throwing their popcorn at the television after staying up late and weathering a dramatic Patriots comeback Sunday night only to see Bill Belichick defer possession when overtime began. But Denver’s quarterback was nonplussed when asked after the game whether Belichick’s call surprised him. “No,” Peyton Manning replied flatly. “That’s...

Robert Kraft was also confused when Bill Belichick decided to not take the ball in overtime

Patriots owner Robert Kraft admitted that like most people he was confused when Bill Belichick decided to kick the ball to the Broncos in overtime this past Sunday night. ‘‘When Bill chose the wind, I said, ‘What is he doing?’’ Kraft said last night prior to handing out turkeys during his annual Thanksgiving giveaway at Goodwill headquarters in West Roxbury. ‘‘Someone...

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are FREAKING OUT

With the Patriots down 24-0 after two quarters, there wasn’t much to smile about during the first half of their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Broncos in Foxboro. That might explain why Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were SO. DAMN. EXCITED. following the Patriots’ third touchdown in the second half, bringing them within three points of Denver. This awesome GIF is a result...

Tom Brady May Have Audibled Play Named After Bill Belichick’s Girlfriend Linda on Rob Gronkowski Touchdown

The Patriots were better than the Broncos in a few facets on Sunday, and one of those facets was audibles at the line of scrimmage. Peyton Manning may be known for his “Omaha!” calls at the line, but Tom Brady has a few good ones of his own, and it appears the Patriots have become rather creative with their audibles recently. Brady could be heard calling “Cougar! Cougar! Linda...

Bill Belichick was confident in wind call

Another Patriots game had fans talking Monday morning, but unlike last week, when they were upset over the non-penalty ruling at the end of a loss to Carolina, this time they were basking in New England’s unexpected 34-31 overtime win over Denver. The game offered no shortage of story lines to rehash, with one of the major ones being Bill Belichick’s decision at the start of...

Kyle Arrington’s Impressive Job Covering Wes Welker Among Five Takeaways From Patriots-Broncos

The Patriots’ second-half comeback is still unbelievable. Hope was entirely lost in the first half. The crowd was dead — the upper deck filtered out after the second quarter ended, the team looked uninspired and the mood in the press box was tepid at best, downright pessimistic at worse. The general consensus was that the Patriots had lost and that it was better that they finished...

About last night and the Patriots rollercoaster game

I’m sitting here at a cubicle, drinking an okay cup of coffee from a Patriots mug. I’m tired, I’m sick and my personal life sucks but for one Sunday night football game, the New England Patriots reminded us all that can be great about sports. That for three hours on a Sunday night, the New England Patriots took us on a rollercoaster of emotions seemed only right for someone...

Bolden's stock rising in Pats' fumbling backfield

BY DAN BEGNOCHEDespite the overtime win against the Broncos last weekend, New England's rushing attack now has the fourth-most fumbles in the league and leads the league in fumbles lost, thanks to a couple more drops by Stevan Ridley and LeGarrette Blount.Ridley's fumble in Sunday's night game was his fourth of the season and third in as many games, while Blount's...

How exalted will tonight's game be in the annals of the Brady-Belichick Patriots and in the ongoing saga of Brady vs. Manning, and how much of that will be deserved? I thought it was sloppy, though exciting.

Yeah, that’s the rub. On one hand it was an amazing game with a great comeback, but there was...
