By Mike McDermottVeteran defensive lineman Eric Moore is back with the Patriots, and New England would love to get a similar lift to the one Moore provided the defense over the last four games of the 2010 season.
Moore, a 30-year-old veteran, picked up two sacks, 13 tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery after the Patriots signed him following a stint with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. New England released Moore before the start of the season. He ended up back in the UFL, but returned to a Patriots team that needed a body to replace linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, who was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a hamstring injury.
Some expected this to be a breakout season for Cunningham, who was a second-round draft pick in 2010. But he has picked up just one tackle all season while appearing in nine games.
