RENTON, WA - JANUARY 12: Pete Carroll answers questions at a press conference announcing his hiring as the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks on January 12, 2010 at the Seahawks training facility in Renton, Washington. (Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images)
Pete Carroll left the New England Patriots as the man who ruined a promising team, in Seattle he’s known for building a unique contender. After handing the San Francisco 49ers their hats on national television, players went to go celebrate at a nightclub in the city. A shooting occurred and for once, no Seahawks players were involved but they were lauded in how they tried to help. Carroll has not only built a winner on the field, he’s got character off of it also. Three straight 40 plus point’s blowouts and head to head victories over the Patriots and 49ers has the Seahawks on everybody's radar. Is Seattle the best team in the NFL or just the hottest? Either way, Carroll’s Seahawks are humming as he talks about how ‘out of the box’ thinking has molded his team. "What I've always looked for -- what are the special attributes that make the guys different as a player?" Carroll said. "And we try and coach with the same thought, to bring out those qualities. It's going to be tailored to them, what their strengths are. We're trying to find what's special about them, and adapt on our end," according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. "If you wanna point to the height of the corners or the quarterback, it goes to what we've looked for, and that really goes back to SC," "We're looking for uniqueness in our players -- the quality that separates them." "I've always thought the same way in what you're trying to find: We're looking for what a guy has, not what he hasn't," Carroll said. "You try and develop those qualities, make that your way of looking at the world. We're a developmental staff, and that is a guideline to our overall approach and philosophy."   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
