Matt Flynn was a highly sought after free agent quarterback in 2012, and after feeling teams out, he chose the Seattle Seahawks. Flynn signed a three-year deal worth $19.5 million, with $10 million guaranteed. Flynn was brought in to compete with 2011 starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson and 2012 NFL Draft third round pick Russell Wilson for the starting quarterback position. Wilson eventually won the starting job, leaving Flynn on the sidelines to watch. However, Flynn is still highly regarded and the Seahawks could get some value from an investment they never used. Coach Pete Carroll talked about Flynn and his future with Seattle. “First off, Matt handled himself really well,” Carroll said. “He never accepted it. I never expected him to. I wanted him to fight the whole way. And if it made him grumpy at times or whatever it made him, that was what was going to happen. But he handled it like a real champion kid. He competed in practice on a regular basis,” according to Eric Williams of thenewstribune.com. “He never did want to accept it. And he still thinks he’s the best quarterback in the program. I admire him for thinking that way. And I forever regret that fact that we never got the chance to see him play very much, just because everything he did was on point. But Russell just never let it happen. “As we move forward we’re going to figure it out. We’re fortunate that we have two really good football players in the program.” “We’ve talked a lot about that,” Carroll said. “It would be nice to have another guy that might be able to be a factor that way. There’s some really good kids out there. We’ll see.”         var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
