Ape’s off speaking to young aspring journalists this morning, which means I’m stuck with off-season Peter King coverage, which is somehow more verbose than regular season Peter King. What’s even worse is that PK posted last night just after midnight on the East Coast, so I could have knocked this out last night since his ramblings went up around 9 p.m. Pacific instead of getting up early this morning. This is my punishment for not following PK on Twitter, or at very least not checking his feed last night. I would have failed the very journalism class Mike lecturing at today. Alas. When we last left Peter King, he was telling us that Manti Te’o was still a first round draft pick despite his poor showing at the combine and the strangeness of falling for a fake girlfriend, how he would never stay in a hotel with a dead person in the water tank, USC quarterbacks are not overrated and that draft boards are ethereal notions and any movement up or down on such imaginary boards is meaningle...

Report: Manti Te’o Not Expected to Last Past Bengals’ No. 21 Overall Pick in NFL Draft

It appears the Bengals have serious interest in Manti Te’o. Peter King of Sports Illustrated has now mentioned twice that the former Notre Dame linebacker is not expected to last past the Bengals’ No. 21 overall pick in the NFL draft. There were some doubts that Te’o was still a first-rounder after running  a 4.82 40-yard dash at the combine. No one’s “draft stock” has...

With Brady Signed, What Is Next For The Patriots?

Much has been made of the fact that Tom Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback of this generation, took a pay cut that will save the New England Patriots about $15 million in the next two seasons. This money, presumably, is intended to be used to surround Brady with enough talent to allow the 35-year old to keep the team at a Super Bowl level. Now that the money is free, what is...

NFL could allow fans to purchase Combine tickets in the future

Every year, the NFL allows a few fans access to the Combine held in Indianapolis. This practice has been exciting for those lucky few that go, but the current system may be on its way out. Peter King of "Sports Illustrated" reported that the roughly 300 fans that attended this year's Combine were emailed a survey including the question, "If in future years the...

Robert Kraft on Tom Brady’s deal: ‘We don’t do fake deals’

Tom Brady’s new contract extension has been debated ad nauseum. You already know how we feel about it, so there’s no reason to get into that again. But now that the world has realized that Brady didn’t really take less money, instead he got a raise, Peter King got Patriots owner Robert Kraft on the horn so he could defend the contract. In a hollow attempt to show everyone that...

Robert Kraft says Tom Brady's new contract isn't a 'fake' deal

Renewed push for Jack Johnson pardon

U.S. lawmakers seeking a presidential pardon for Jack Johnson, the first black world heavyweight boxing champion imprisoned a century ago for his romantic relationships with white women, renewed their efforts on Tuesday. Senators Harry Reid and John McCain joined congressmen Peter King and William ''Mo'' Cowan to reintroduce a resolution urging President Barack Obama...

Robert Kraft: I don’t want a Joe Montana like ending for Tom Brady

When the news broke that Tom Brady and the New England Patriots had agreed on a 3-year, $27 million extension, many assumed Brady took a hometown discount for the Patriots. Assuredly so because market value for a top quarterback dictates that yearly salary should be in the $18-$20 million range (just ask Joe Flacco). But [...]

Robert Kraft Doesn’t Want A Montana Like Ending For Tom Brady

Tom Brady restructured his contract last week to make it cap friendly for New England, and to add a few more seasons to the life of his contract. Kraft explained to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, that part of the reasoning for contract restructuring was to help avoid seeing Brady ever play in another jersey like Joe Montana, Emmitt Smith, and Brett Favre did for their proud franchises...

Mike Wallace, Dwayne Bowe, Greg Jennings Not Ideal Fits for Patriots in Free Agency If Wes Welker Returns

Tom Brady restructured his contract, so that means the Patriots should sign every high priced free agent available, right? In short, no. The three marquee free agents on everyone’s mind this offseason are wide receivers Mike Wallace, Dwayne Bowe and Greg Jennings. The thought is that if the Patriots sign one of those players, the offense will suddenly take off into the stratosphere...

Da’Rick Rogers Fills New England’s Deep Threat Need in 2013 Patriots Mock Draft (Photos)

The Patriots are amazing. Since 2010, New England has slowly been rebuilding its entire roster, and they have made made the playoffs three times, the Super Bowl once and the AFC Championship Game twice in that time span. That slow rebuild will continue in 2013. With Tom Brady‘s extension setting a likely end to his NFL career in 2017, we may start to see some urgency in winning...

FOX Sports 1 Network Promises Even More Free Live UFC Events

People are pretty funny. For years, a lot of us have been openly begging and praying for any of the major networks to step up to the plate and start a 24/7 sports channel that could rival ESPN. NBC, bless its big greedy heart, has given it a shot, but mostly to hilariously awful results. That’s what happens when your best show features Peter King and Mikey Florio pretending to...
