Peyton Manning says he’s not trying to do the things he did at 28. Once again, he’s trying to fake everyone out. Manning is an MVP and Comeback Player of the Year candidate. The latter is pretty much a wrap. It’s true that he isn’t trying to do the same things at 28; he had 49 touchdowns and a passer rating of 121.1. That would be ridiculous. Maybe he was talking about 27 when he was more human-like with a passer rating of 99.0 and a completion percentage of 67.0. In 2012, Manning has a 106.2 passer rating and completion percentage of 68.5. This is another fake signal to throw us off. The Broncos have the 5th ranked passing attack in the NFL, and the Broncos are 7-3. Manning talked about his frame of mind at 36 and what he has to do now as opposed to when he was younger quarterback. “What I’ve learned to do is compensate. That’s what athletes do", Manning said to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. "You learn to compensate with what you’ve got. I’ve come to accept the reality that I am 36 years old,” he said. “I’m not trying to be the player that I was when I was 28. I’m not." "I don’t compare myself to that," he said. “At our college camp this summer, these kids, they’ve got some arms. This kid from Georgia, Aaron Murray, he can throw it a mile. All these kids. Six years ago, I’d have said, ‘Hey, I’m going to out-throw all these guys.’ But now, these kids can throw it farther, and it has zero effect on my psyche. I’m 36 years old, I’m coming off a major injury, and my arm has a lot of miles on it. I can still get them in the end zone doing it a different way, dinking and dunking, taking my shots at certain times. “I’ve learned a lot about my body, and about my team,” var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
