The Green Bay Packers let Sunday’s wild-card matchup against the San Francisco 49ers slip through their fingertips, or through Davon House‘s arms, anyway.
The Green Bay cornerback came within inches of blocking Phil Dawson‘s game-winning 33-yard field goal with time expiring. After breaking off from the left side, House put himself in the perfect position to block Dawson’s attempt, but somehow, the ball managed to sneak right in between House’s outstretched arms and through the uprights.
While Green Bay fans can drive themselves crazy watching the play on loop, they can at least rest a little easier knowing that the block would not have counted as House was flagged for an offsides penalty on the attempted block. Had he been successful, Dawson would have re-kicked from the 28-yard line to likely the same results.
