Chip Kelly and the new-look Philadelphia Eagles may not be considered to be in the playoff conversation heading into the start of the highly-anticipated 2013 NFL regular season, but with unrest in the NFC East and four different division champions over the last four seasons, anything can happen.  At least one thing’s certain about this team though—it will be fascinating to watch. Despite the widespread speculation and intrigue regarding the tempo on offense and how the unit will operate with Michael Vick, Nick Foles and possibly even rookie QB Matt Barkley lining up under center this year, the Eagles’ new-look defense could be just as interesting to watch and just as important to the team’s success in 2013. Philadelphia chalked up just 30 sacks (down from 50 in 2011) and a mere 13 takeaways in 2012.  Philly more than made up for the departures of defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins and Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the secondary with the additions of Patrick Chung,...

Chip Kelly says RB Bryce Brown’s fumbling issues not a concern: ‘I know that's been an issue here in the past’

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly have a three down running back in LeSean McCoy, so when he says he’s not concerned about backup RB Bryce Brown’s fumbling issues, it’s not his primary worry. However, if McCoy were to get injured, Kelly’s concern might get heightened quite a bit.

Eagles' Celek rejuvenated by Kelly's offense

To borrow a line from Mark Twain reports of Brent Celek's football death have been greatly exaggerated. A subpar season and the offseason arrival of two heralded tight ends - free agent James Casey and second-round pick Zach Ertz - had a lot of people in these parts ready to put the 6-year veteran out to pasture. But when the Eagles open the season in less than 2 weeks against...

Chip Kelly Says He Has Final Say Over Eagles 53-Man Roster

After Andy Reid was fired by the Eagles, the idea of a head coach holding power of personnel decisions was supposed to have been abolished. Jeffrey Lurie named Howie Roseman GM, and hired offensive genius, and successful college coach Chip Kelly as Reid’s successor. It was assumed that Kelly would on handle the X’s and O’s, but according to Pro Football Talk, Kelly also has...

Eagles Security Guards Practice Taking Down Streakers (Video)

The Philadelphia Eagles security guards practice taking down streakers. I know this happens from time to time but actually taking time out of your day to practice it? Thats a bit far. I do have a solution for this problem though: just one time, release an angry dog after the person that streaks. That will make people think twice about it right?

Eagles Preseason Game 3: Two Observations

Know Your Enemy: Philadelphia Eagles

Fly, Philadelphia Eagles, Fly After a disappointing 4-12 campaign, longtime head coach Andy Reid was shown the door. In walked Chip Kelly, lately of Oregon, with his up-tempo offense. In concert with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who comes to Philadelphia from the Cleveland Browns, Kelly looks to resurrect an offense that scored only 17.5 points per game […]The post Know...

Razzball Writers League Draft Recap: Loudon’s Team

Although I’ve done plenty of mock drafts this season, the Razzball Writers’ League was my first “real” fantasy football draft of the 2013 season.  I don’t think Yahoo has the best rankings in the world, but I did get the only “A” draft grade from Yahoo of the bunch and I’ve got to say, I agree with them there. When drafting in a PPR league, your strategy has to...
