Found August 24, 2012 on Football Nation:
On Friday, August 24th, the Eagles marched into Cleveland and played the Browns in a preseason showdown. Both teams looked good, but neither wanted to give anything away, as these two teams play each other Week 1.Still, there was a lot of good football to be seen. Lets see how the birds fared against the Browns.1st Quarter:Browns took the opening kickoff in the game, and had quite the drive. Rookie Brandon Weeden connected with Josh Gordon deep on the first play, and Nnamdi Asomugha didn't even see it coming, though he was on him like glue.Weeden then threw another 20-yard pass and just like that, they were in the red zone.Thats when the Eagles' defensive line stepped up, Derek Landri landed a good hit on Montario Hardesty and caused a huge fumble, with Trent Cole recovering. Unfortunately, Foles gave it right back with an interception. Following the drive Weeden overthrew two wide open receivers, giving the ball right back.Damaris Johnson looked good on punt returns in the f...

The future is now for Nick Foles, the Philadelphia Eagles

When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Nick Foles in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft the logic was unclear. Was the Arizona QB brought in to be developed for future trade potential or did the Eagles intend to bring him along in hopes that he would eventually emerge as their future starting quarterback? During the NFL preseason Foles let his play on the field answer that question...

Nick Foles again a hit in Eagles 27-10 win over Browns

Photo via the Philadelphia Eagles Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles faced an NFL first defense for the first time in his career on Monday night and if he was nervous about it he certainly didn’t let on. In the 27-10 victory by the Eagles over the Browns, Foles finished the first half 12/19 for 146 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception for a 99.9 passer rating. At...

Spice up your Philly sports gear with Aphillyated

Philadelphia sports fans don’t just support one Philly team. We love our Birds but we root for the Sixers, the Flyers and the Phillies, regardless of which sport is closest to our hearts. That’s why I love what the guys at Aphillyated are doing with designs like their Flyers and Eagles hybrid tee (above). One city, one love when it comes to sports in this town. Orange not your...

Philadelphia Eagles: Michael Vick Injury Opens Door For Foles

Michael Vick: 4-for-7, 11 yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 62.2 rating (12 offensive plays).Nick Foles: 24-of-38, 361 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception, 118.4 rating (roughly an entire game played overall).Obviously, these numbers are a bit deceiving. Vick’s 12 plays of offense were stunted not by poor play, but a pair of injuries (jamming a throwing finger in one game;...

Philadelphia Eagles Should Trade For Tarvaris Jackson

The Eagles started the preseason as a favorite to win the NFC East. Sadly, their success is contingent upon Michael Vick's performance. The mobile quarterback can't seem to stay on the field. Vick left both of the Eagles' preseason games so far with injuries, a serious concern if the Eagles expect him to start all 16 games.Rookie quarterback Nick Foles looks decent and...

2-0 Preseason Start Has Browns Fans Dreaming Big: Is 3rd Place in AFC North Really Possible?

The Cleveland Browns have toppled both of their foes this preseason. And while rookie starter Brandon Weeden has looked marginally effective as the 28-year old Quarterback of the Future for the Browns, he should still be the Browns’ starter in Week 1. There are some big questions facing the Cleveland Browns this season like: Was it worth it to move up to draft a running back...

REMINDER: Barry Sanders Was Awesome

Photo credit: SI I was watching the Eagles-Patriots preseason game this week because I am an addict and I have a problem, and as the Monday Night crew was discussing the members of the Eagles offense, Jon Gruden compared running back LeSean McCoy to Barry Sanders. OK, no. Let me first point out that I am an Eagles fan and that I love LeSean McCoy. For the 70-80% of every game when...

Trent Richardson Expected To Play Week 1

According to Adam Shefter, the Browns are expecting rookie running back Trent Richardson to play in the season opener against Philadelphia.Fantasy Spin:Richardson had a minor procedure on his left knee two weeks ago and hasn't encountered any setbacks in his recovery. If Richardson really is on pace to make it back in time for Week 1, he could become a late second-round pick...

What We’re Watching: Eagles at Browns

Week 3 of the preseason: The dress rehearsal that won’t really be much of one, thanks to scheduling. The Browns will finally play host, and this time, allegedly in their brown uniforms! The Mike Vick-less Eagles come to town, but at this stage, the opponent means very little. This one is all about the Browns and continued progression towards the start of the regular season. Want...
