The San Diego Chargers pulled off a big upset on Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts, scoring a 19-9 home win over Andrew Luck’s team. The game was sealed when kicker Nick Novak nailed a 50-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining in the game to make it a two-score game. How big was that kick? So big that Philip Rivers had the awesome reaction shown below: Rivers was clearly enjoying himself and the fact that his team improved to 3-3 after Novak’s field goal. He’s also probably in a good mood because his wife is in the hospital expecting the couple’s seventh (no that’s not a typo) child. Rivers put in a great performance Monday night, completing 22-of-33 passes for 237 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. He out-gunned Luck who complete 18-of-30 tosses for 202 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception. The Chargers also got a great game out of running back Ryan Mathews, who ran the ball 22 times for 102 yards. Rookie wide receiver Keenan Allen also had a breakout ...

Philip Rivers hints Chargers were offended by Colts-Broncos hype

The San Diego Chargers surprised many people by beating the Indianapolis Colts 19-9 on Monday Night Football. The Colts were coming off three straight wins, including impressive victories over the 49ers and Seahawks. The Chargers, meanwhile, had just lost to the Raiders. But they looked extra motivated on Monday, possibly because they felt disrespected. Quarterback […]

Philip Rivers could make history tonight on Monday Night Football

Tonight the San Diego Chargers face the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. Rivers has been pretty impressive this year, and to be honest, if he throws for 400 yards he will break a record that Joe Montana, Dan Marino or even Eli Manning have done. That is throw for 400 yards in three straight […]

Philip Rivers Trash Talked The Media Postgame

“WHAT? HUH? WHAT? THAT’S DISRESPECT!”In addition to making ridiculous faces, Marmalard celebrated the Chargers win by making sure to let the media know he didn’t appreciate his team not being given enough respect or attention going into their Monday night contest with the Colts, who, if you weren’t aware, face a certain Battleship Manning next Sunday. I know! How has ESPN...

Philip Rivers Flashes A Trademark Laserface In Victory

The Chargers upset the Colts thanks to Keenan Allen, controlling the time of possession, some unexpectedly capable defense and Indy’s receivers making a ton of drops. But give credit to Marmalard where it’s due – he didn’t make the killer turnover. For that, he rewards us with another great Rivers face of intensity as Nick Novak made the field goal to ice the game by putting...

Rivers, Novak lead Chargers to 19-9 win

Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers slowly put to rest all that talk about Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts' offense. It was hard for Luck to pull off another comeback, or even get into the end zone, while standing on the sideline. Rivers threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to rookie Keenan Allen and Nick Novak kicked four field goals to give the Chargers a 19-9 victory...

Philip Rivers’ Career Renaissance This Season Has as Much to Do With Danny Woodhead as Anyone

It’s no coincidence that Philip Rivers has enjoyed something of a career renaissance this season. Ridding himself of the black hole that is Norv Turner and replacing him with offensive guru Mike McCoy has certainly be a big help, but there’s one offseason addition that seems to be even more important to Rivers’ reemergence. It took just two years and $4 million to lure Danny...

Colts-Chargers Live Blog, Second Half

Well that was a fun first half. The Colts opened with a flea-flicker on first and five and then the LiveBrog broke. Then the back end of the site broke and then I panicked that we wouldn’t be able to properly pay tribute to all the beautiful rainbows Philip Rivers was tossing up with multicolored unicorn theme. It was awful. Everyone had to pay attention to football and I was so...

Chargers use long drives, field goals to beat Colts 19-9

The San Diego offense had four drives of 65 or more yards on Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts but only one touchdown. Still behind a defense that yielded little the Chargers won 19-9.
