The Redskins have struggled through their first two games of the season, especially in the first half. Much of the talk surrounding their 0-2 start has been around RGIII and his return from knee surgery. Washington wide receiver has an explanation regarding what some view as a different RGIII. H/T: CBS Sports “Robert obviously can’t run as fast as he did last year because of his knee brace and his knee,” Garcon told ESPN 980, via ESPN.com. “It’s the same offense, to be honest with you. It’s nothing different. It hasn’t changed at all,” Garcon said. “When you’re walking around with a knee brace or playing with a knee brace, obviously it’s slowing you down a little bit,” Garcon said. “It’s just natural. I don’t know how much it weighs, exactly, but you always think about it when you have it on there, and it’s a constant reminder. It’s not gonna let you be the guy you are without the knee brace. When you have something around your knees — the more equipment you have on, it’s obviously distracting you or slowing you down from being as free as loose as yourself without any equipment on.” Very understandable explanation by Garcon. As someone that has gone through knee surgery and had to wear a similar brace while playing sports, it does take some getting used to. RGIII says that defenses aren’t allowing him to run he did last year. “Everyone’s going to the lack of QB runs. If teams will give us the QB runs, then we’ll take it,” RG3 said on Sunday. “If they’re not giving it to us, then we can’t just run those plays.” Also a plausible explanation. As course teams can better prepare for a player they have a years worth of film to study. Whether it’s the brace or defenses not allowing what they did last year, it’s up to the coaching staff and offense to adjust. The Redskins better come up with something quick. Although hard, it is possible to overcome 0-2, 0-3 is another story.

Pierre Garcon: Knee brace is holding back RGIII

Tweet The Washington Redskins are off to a disappointing 0-2 start to the 2013 season, for a number of reasons. Mike Ditka Criticizes Redskins, Says Defense ‘Doesn’t Even Exist’ While Defending Robert Griffin III

The Redskins lost to the Packers on Sunday, and looked pretty bad doing it. Led by quarterback Robert Griffin III, Washington failed to get on the scoreboard until almost eight minutes into the third quarter, were out-possessed by almost five full minutes and converted only three of 11 attempts on third down. Don’t saddle Griffin with all the blame for the loss, though. Hall of...

RGIII: I'll run more to spark the Redskins offense

Tweet The Washington Redskins have been primarily a one-dimensional offense over their first two games of the season, mainly due to them falling behind early and been in a pass-heavy offense and resulting in Robert Griffin III playing a drop-back passer role. So many drop backs has led to Griffin having only nine rushing attempts […]

Falling behind early has kept the Redskins from running the read-option

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan claims that the only reason they’ve run only five read-option plays during the first two weeks of the regular season is because they fell behind so quickly against both the Eagles and Packers. “We have the ability to do everything we’ve done a year ago,” Shanahan said, via ESPN.com. “In the second half of our first two games...

Shanahan on benching Robert Griffin: “No, no”

getty images Someone actually asked Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan whether or not the team was considering the idea of benching quarterback Robert Griffin III.
