The Redskins have struggled through their first two games of the season, especially in the first half. Much of the talk surrounding their 0-2 start has been around RGIII and his return from knee surgery. Washington wide receiver has an explanation regarding what some view as a different RGIII. H/T: CBS Sports “Robert obviously can’t run as fast as he did last year because of his knee brace and his knee,” Garcon told ESPN 980, via ESPN.com. “It’s the same offense, to be honest with you. It’s nothing different. It hasn’t changed at all,” Garcon said. “When you’re walking around with a knee brace or playing with a knee brace, obviously it’s slowing you down a little bit,” Garcon said. “It’s just natural. I don’t know how much it weighs, exactly, but you always think about it when you have it on there, and it’s a constant reminder. It’s not gonna let you be the guy you are without the knee brace. When you have something around your knees — the more equipment you have on, it’s obviously distracting you or slowing you down from being as free as loose as yourself without any equipment on.” Very understandable explanation by Garcon. As someone that has gone through knee surgery and had to wear a similar brace while playing sports, it does take some getting used to. RGIII says that defenses aren’t allowing him to run he did last year. “Everyone’s going to the lack of QB runs. If teams will give us the QB runs, then we’ll take it,” RG3 said on Sunday. “If they’re not giving it to us, then we can’t just run those plays.” Also a plausible explanation. As course teams can better prepare for a player they have a years worth of film to study. Whether it’s the brace or defenses not allowing what they did last year, it’s up to the coaching staff and offense to adjust. The Redskins better come up with something quick. Although hard, it is possible to overcome 0-2, 0-3 is another story.
