On Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers finally opened their 2012 training camp to the fans, and all the buzz was about rookie running back Chris Rainey, who flashed confidence, speed and one of the brightest shirt and show combinations to hit Latrobe in some time.Rainey is a small 5-8, 180 pounds, but extremely versatile and explosive athlete that has the ability to make an impact on both offense and special teams. In fact, he may have the most natural explosion with the ball in his hands of any player in this draft. During his career at Florida, he split time between multiple positions and looks the part of a natural receiver and change-of-pace back in the NFL. In fact, during the brief glimpses of the new offense, he looked quite at home as a receiver out of the backfield on the multiple screen passes and flairs that were put on display. More importantly for teams, he was also a special teams dynamo at Florida school and SEC records with six blocked punts over his career on top ...

Pittsburgh Steelers extend WR Antonio Brown

The Steelers made a surprise move today by extending a wide receiver, but not the wide receiver many would have expected. With Mike Wallace still holding out and ownership refusing to negotiate with him until he reports, the Steelers turned their attention to Antonio Brown, who was set to be a restricted free agent, much like Wallace is now, next offseason. Brown was given 42.5 million...

Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Gets A New Contract: It's Antonio Brown Not Mike Wallace

As humidity at the initial training camp practices reaches near-suffocating levels, things in Latrobe just became much stickier. Wide receiver Mike Wallace has refused to sign his one-year tender as an unrestricted free agent. As training camp neared negotiations for a long-term deal began progressing, but when Wallace failed to report for training camp, the Steelers promptly ceased...

“No way” the Steelers would franchise Mike Wallace in 2012?

After extending Antonio Brown earlier today, news came out that the Steelers would not be giving Mike Wallace an extension and that he would either have to play out the season on his restricted tender, roughly 2.7 million, or be traded. Some speculated that Wallace, if he signs his tender, would be franchised next offseason. However, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ed...

It could be that running back coach Kirby...

After Antonio Brown signed an extension yesterday and the Steelers said they would no longer be discussing an extension with Mike Wallace, speculation picked up quickly that Wallace would be traded. According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, GM Kevin Colbert is denying that Wallace is available for trade. That may be true, but it may also be the Steelers trying to drum up a false report so...

Antonio Brown Gets His Extension

Bobby Fischer. That is who I think of when I think of chess. Probably the most brilliant chess player ever. You’re probably thinking what does this even have to do with Antonio Brown? Well, when it comes to football and how to run an organization, the Steelers are the Bobby Fischer of the NFL. This [...]

Steelers rally around RB coach

Ben Roethlisberger choked up. Mike Tomlin found perspective. Chris Rainey marveled at the display of ''cheating death.'' To Kirby Wilson, it was just a jog. To the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was, to use Tomlin's word, ''a blessing.'' Wilson, Pittsburgh's running backs coach, was on the field barking at his players and even running...
