During the 2013 off-season the Pittsburgh Steelers were forced to part ways with James Harrison due to his high salary and the team’s salary cap status. With Harrison now gone my hope was that the Steelers would see less fines and discussion within the NFL front offices. Harrison became the poster-boy of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s player safety initiative. At the same time Goodell became the bane of all Steelers’ fans existence and the Steelers seemed to be cracked-down upon harder than most other teams in the NFL when it came to certain hits and being fined. With Harrison now gone the fins should lessen and the Steelers will have a smaller target on their chest when it comes to the NFL officials, right? Not so fast.
