The Pittsburgh Steelers are making quick work of signing their draft choices. Yesterday the team reached an agreement with their fourth seventh round selection SMU offensive tackle / offensive guard Kelvin Beachum. With his signing, the Steelers only have two member’s of their draft class left to sign, first round pick Stanford offensive guard David DeCastro and third round selection Sean Spence.
Beachum was a left tackle at SMU, and playing that position in the wide open spread attack cries pass blocker, and the 6-3, 304 pounder has demonstrated an aptitude to protect the blindside. A thick athlete, he has a natural bend to anchor in the pass game and has enough quickness and lateral agility to mirror. He plays through the whistle and is a second-level type guy.

Hoke Says It Could Take A Year Or Two For Ta’amu To Play In Steelers Scheme
Chris Hoke may have retired this offseason, but he stays active in the media and he joined 93.7 The Fan Thursday morning for an interview. Hoke, who backed up Casey Hampton at nose tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers for over a decade, was asked about fourth round draft pick Alameda Ta'amu. Hoke said, "I tell you what, he's going to be a good football player, I don...
Post Draft State Of The Steelers Running Backs
The 2012 draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers is a few weeks behind us now. I have already posted about the state of the offensive and defensive line positions following the draft and today we will look at the state of the running back depth chart following the draft.
Rashard Mendenhall - Mendenhall is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is likely to start the 2012...
Pittsburgh Steelers: Projected 2012 Starting Lineups
Overall I am projecting six new starters for the Steelers next season. The offensive line was probably the toughest group to predict due to the uncertainty surrounding just about every spot but center Maurkice Puncey's. Apart from the offensive line, the main changes in the Steelers lineups will be the absences of Aaron Smith, James Farrior, and Hines Ward, who were all released...

Quarterback – Ben Roethlisberger: Out of all the people that liked what the Steelers did in the draft, no one liked it as much as Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers need Big Ben to stay healthy down the stretch this season or else they’ll likely face another early exit in the playoffs.
Running Back – Isaac Redman: With Rashard Mendenhall likely out for at least the majority...
After The Draft Emmanuel Sanders Should No Longer Be A Returner
By Cian Fahey
Back in February, Emmanuel Sanders revealed that he had been told he would be returning kicks and punts for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. Quite a lot has happened with the Steelers' roster since then which has given the Steelers a lot more flexibility with Sanders.
Despite how good he may be in the role, ideally Sanders would not be needed as a returner...
Prime Nine: Best Year For Ben Roethlisberger In 2012?
By Jeremy Hritz
With the egress of Bruce Arians and the addition of Todd Haley, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be lining up opening night against the Denver Broncos with a new offense that apparently is so complex that Ben Roethlisberger labeled it the Rosetta Stone. While nobody has ever accused Ben of being a rocket scientist, the seasoned veteran should not have any issues in assimilating...
The Terrible Podcast – Talking Free Agent Visits & Interview With Jonathan Dwyer Episode
Season 2, Episode 107 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I start off with a little house keeping as we recap the draft picks that have been signed thus far by the Pittsburgh Steelers and talk a little about the free agent visitors that were in town this week in the form of Matt Roth, Brandon Johnson and Dave Rayner. We also note the release of undrafted free agent kicker...
Steelers need Competition for Suisham; Should look at CFL
The Steelers invited Mizzouri kicker Grant Ressel to their rookie mini-camp last week, but his name is no longer listed on the Steelers roster. All other undrafted rookies are still listed on the roster; it seems the Steelers have already cut Ressel and are looking for another kicker to compete with Continue
Draft Grades: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers take the smart, patient approach to the draft almost every year and it is one of the key reasons why they are perennial contenders. While other teams reach to fill needs, the Steelers sit back and wait for someone to fall into their lap.
This year was no different as the Steelers landed David DeCastro, who will step into an immediate starting role and should...
Steelers Sign 7th Round Pick OG Kelvin Beachum To A Four Year Deal
Pittsburgh formally has two SMU products on the roster. Seventh-round pick Kelvin Beachum agreed to a four-year deal with the team Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Beachum, a 6-foot-1, 306-pound offensive guard, joins WR Emmanuel Sanders as SMU football alumni for the Steelers. He'll look to add to the depth of the suddenly formidable Steelers offensive line. ...
Steelers players reaction to Todd Haley’s playbook shows how weak Arians playbook was
Todd Haley has handed out the Steelers new playbook. From the reaction of the players it is nothing like the playbook Bruce Arians has put out in the past. Ben Roethlisberger compared it to learning “Rosetta Stone”. That is expected when a new coordinator comes in. You get his playbook rather than the one you were using.
There were two comments though that stood out...
Steelers Six From Around The Web – May 11th – Keisel Wants You To Buy A Kubota Tractor Edition
Retired Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward threw out the first pitch before the game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals on Thursday evening at PNC Park. Ward was a star baseball player in high school back in Georgia and was even drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 73rd round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft. Thankfully Ward decided to not...
Pittsburgh Steelers Will Benefit From Terrell Suggs' Injury
Make no mistake, Terrell Suggs loves to play the Pittsburgh Steelers. The All-Pro LB for the Baltimore Ravens has always seemed especially motivated when the two AFC North rivals square off. Some of his best games have come against the Steelers' offensive line and QB Ben Roethlisberger.
Unfortunately for the 2012 Baltimore Ravens, it appears that Suggs will not be...

The base salaries for Beachum will be $390,000, $480,000, $570,000 and $660,000. The signing...
