Minnesota Vikings Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder suffered an apparent rib injury during Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns, and it may be serious enough for him to skip week 4's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers in London.
Ponder practiced Wednesday, but was limited in his throws. Backup Matt Cassel took the bulk of the work, seeming to point that the team is prepared to give Cassel the start and if things don't imporve with Ponder.
"He looked like Christian," Cassel said, via Ben Goessling on ESPN.com. "He looked great, and he was throwing the ball fine."
In light of the injury news, Ponder is still expecting to play Sunday at Wembley Stadium. "It's a little sore and it's going to be something I will have to work through, but I threw more than I thought I would be able to," he said. "We'll wait to see how this week plays out, but my expectation and my hope is that I will be playing."
