Now that he’s going into his third NFL season, Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara is focused on building off of a strong 2012 season as he strives to be the NFL’s best corner.
“I really want to be the No. 1 corner on this team, and I feel like right now Corey [Webster] is, and my goal is to always just try to beat him out,” Amukamara said, via ESPNNewYork.com. “And I think as soon as I establish myself as the No. 1 corner [on the team], then hopefully just become the No. 1 corner in the whole league.”
After battling injuries during his rookie season, Amukamara was happy to get through last season mostly unscathed.
“This was huge, getting those reps that I didn’t get last year,” Amukamara said. “I’m an athlete where I have to actually be in it to learn, rather than read and write it out.”
With Corey Webster on the back-end of his career and Terrell Thomas trying to come back from his second torn ACL, the Giants need Prince to continue to get better.

When the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2008, David Tyree made the ”catch seen around the world” on his helmet to propel a game winning drive. In 2011, Victor Cruz’s 99 yard touchdown reception against the New York Jets tied an NFL record and was the start of a 6 game winning streak that culminated in a Super Bowl victory for the Giants. Last year, David Wilson’s record-setting...
Talks have once again slowed down between the New York Giants and Victor Cruz as both sides are trying to reach an agreement to have Cruz in New York for a long time.
As the negotiations continue, it harkens back memories of last year when another New York team was in talks with a restricted free agent and one source even said “They will match any offer on him up to 1 billion dollars...

With Cruz now under contract, he must report to training camp 30 days before the 2013 NFL regular season begins. If he doesn’t he’ll...

Two people familiar with the contract told The Associated Press on Friday that the restricted free agent with three years in the NFL had signed the tender while he works on a long-term deal with the Giants.

After being warned by coach Tom Coughlin that now was not the time to slack off, the New York Giants held their final workout before the start of training camp in late July.
Coughlin put the team through a short jog through Thursday in ending a mandatory three-game minicamp for rookies and veterans.
The only notable player missing was leading receiver Victor Cruz, the restricted...
New York Giants star wide receiver Victor Cruz blinked first in his stare down with the New York Giants, and will sign his $2.9 million restricted free agent tender from the Giants according to Pro Football Talk.
On Monday, the Giants would have had the ability on that day, and that day only, to rescind Cruz’s one-year, $2.879 million restricted free agency tender and replace...

If he didn’t sign the tender offer soon, the Giants could have decreased it even more. They are still trying to work out a long-term deal, but once he signs he is obligated to attend camp or he will be fined.

A big factor for the success of the 2013 New York Giants will be how the running game dictates the Giants offense. Ahmad Bradshaw became a cut casualty due to his inability to stay healthy and his base salary affecting the ability for general manager Jerry Reese to remain under an air-tight salary cap. Bradshaw will forever be remembered as one of the toughest Giants of recent times...
