In a move which was not unexpected, the Cleveland Browns announced on Monday that rookie QB Brandon Weedon will be the team’s starting quarterback for the 2012 regular season. From the moment that the Browns drafted Weeden, it was expected that Cleveland would name Weeden as the starting quarterback after drafting him with the overall 22nd selection in the first-round of the 2012 Draft.
The announcement makes it official now and continues to fuel speculation regarding the future of QB Colt McCoy. Shortly after drafting Weeden, rumors surfaced that the Browns were in talks with the Houston Texans for a player trade involving McCoy, but nothing materialized.
McCoy told reporters that he felt that he competed well in training camp and feels as if his skills have improved. The Texas product added that he has not taken any reps in practice with the Browns first-team offense in practice this summer. When asked if he thought he received a fair shot of winning the starting job, McCoy respon...

Although Colt McCoy has only had 3 years of experience in the NFL, he is another one of those average quarterback’s that we thought would do much better in the league by now.
Colt McCoy had another very disappointing season last year, ending the regular season with a 4-12 record and finishing in last place in the AFC North. Colt really struggled last season and in his whole...
The Browns released their depth chart for the first preseason game against the Detroit Lions-
For some reason Head Coach Pat Shurmur had his mind made up the Cleveland Browns were going to screw over Colt McCoy since they drafted Brandon Weeden in the first round. Oh wait, there is a reason. Shurmur could cover up how bad of a head coach he is if he blames it on Colt McCoy for going 4-12. McCoy never had a real shot at remaining the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback and...
Showing up at Tuesday’s practice with a sleeve around his left knee, reports our of Berea are circulating which state that Trent Richardson, the Cleveland Browns’ third-overall draft pick, could miss Friday’s first preseason contest against the Detroit Lions.
The wrapped knee happens to be on the same leg that was surgically repaired prior to the NFL Draft combine. Alas, Richardson...
Nothing personal against Trent Richardson, but I don’t think any team should draft a running back in the first 20 picks in the NFL Draft.
I think you can find RBs even elite ones deeper in the draft and sometimes on the street. Even if you don’t have a great back you can still win Super Bowls. Ask the Patriots, Giants, Saints or Packers.
Plus, Richardson knees are shaky...
Brandon Weeden was asked what he thought about being named the Browns starting quarterback for this Friday night when the Browns take on the Detroit Lions in their first pre-season game. Brandon Weeden will also be the starter from this point forward, the Browns know when you have a guy that is close to N.F>L. retirement age, you have to get him into the game quickly. Friday night...
In another example of why I don’t draft my fantasy football teams until at least after the second week of the pre-season, Cleveland Browns rookie RB Trent Richardson is now reportedly heading back for a visit with legendary sports surgeon, Dr. James Andrews. It was revealed yesterday that rookie Richardson could sit for the Browns first exhibition game this week. The Alabama back...
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson is tentatively scheduled to undergo another arthroscopic procedure on his knee, in order to clean up loose cartridge particles.
Mortensen gave some more detail of theprocedure.
Richardson’s surgery would be considered as proactive minor procedure; a “hang nail particle” not related...
Hello and welcome to the 2012 season! If you’re a Browns fan, it’s been quite an entertaining week as new ownership popped up out of nowhere to infuse some energy into training camp.
The Cleveland Browns are at a crossroads as they enter the 2012 season, and I wish I could blow some sunshine into everyone’s faces, but that’s just not a reasonable thing to do.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson is headed to Florida to visit with Dr. James Andrews to get a second opinion on his knee.
There was just a reported released that Richardson’s knee look fine after undergoing an MRI, but it looks like that might be the case, since he’s going for a second opinion.
Trent Richardson's ailing left knee may be more seriously
injured than the Cleveland Browns thought.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the Browns have announced that rookie Brandon Weeden will be their starting quarterback heading into the season.
Browns head coach pat Shurmur has indicated that the number two job behind Weeden is up for grabs between both Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace.
Weeden being named the starter is not a surprise at all. Carry on now.
Trent Richardson missed practice with knee soreness – The Browns are downplaying the situation, but to be cautious it looks like they may hold Richardson out of the team’s first preseason game on Friday versus Detroit. Though coach Pat Shurmur is saying that Richardson’s knee is “just a little sore” it is still worth noting that it’s the same knee he had scoped in February...
